The self stabbing is just one of the blood magic animations. I've seen npcs use it like Grace. Hawke, Merrill, Anders and even Bethany could all be made self impalers on the PC if you so wished.

Are you saying Merrill only self-impales if the game is modded?

No that it's just an animation for if she is uses blood magic spells in her tree.

You have to mod to get Bethany & Anders to be use blood magic spells.

It's just an animation for when they are getting mana back through blood.

What is this "man hawke" that people keep talking of? Hawke's a woman, and always has been.

I don't know what you other people are going on about.

Maybe I don't want to know.

Really? Ewww. I'd never seen a woman with a giant black beard until now.

I don't know who that is you're describing, but making fun of hirsuitism is a terrible thing.

If Hawke's a woman, it explains the dual mysteries of 1) Where you stash your treasure and 2) Hawke's crotch bulge.

 "I personally think Merrill's clan saw her as an outsider the moment she joined them (when she was 4);"

CAN YOU IMAGINE A FOUR-YEAR OLD MERRILL? :wub: (no pedophile connotations intended)

So, it's decided then that the next Merrill fanart while feature an adorable mini-Merrill?

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! :crying::crying::crying:

Oh well, I shall have a new Lady Hawke/Merrill art done for next week. Or as ydar stated, the real Hawke... :P

@Maria

The animation is from the Hemorrhage spell of the Blood magic tree (or Wounds of the Past in the case of Merrill, but it's the exact same spell with the same animation and effects).

Is the staff stabbing intentional?

Yes it is.

The blood mage stabs herself (the staff goes throw their abdomen... :unsure:) and this causes an area of effect attack that deals damage for the duration of the animation. Once it's upgraded it can also paralize enemies.

Ah, I thought so from the way Grace did it, but it goes like all the way through their body.:unsure:

Anders is gunna have to heal up that gaping wound real quick.

And did you add more pics to you avatar? I see like 2 or 3 new ones.:D

To clarify... Merrill's Wounds of the Past has some slightly different effects than the Hemorrhage spell. My mistake there.

At any rate, it's a bit disturbing to watch really...

Hmm, I haven't added any new pics to my avi, except the glowing eyes avatar. I will add some new ones once my commissions are done. :D

Yes, that's what I wanted to know as I've never seen that animation. I've only seen the sort of Bruce Lee move mages use when activating a sustainable.

It's only the Hemorraghe spell. Most other animations are simply standard stuff with some blood dripping out of your hands or something. But the self stabbing only happens with that spell.

I guess we might as well stop hoping for the pitter patter of tiny half-elf feet, then.

Christ. I'm beginning to see why most blood mages use other people's life force. That can't be healthy.
