Hey guys, I'm getting the feeling that the LIs geared towards straight males...

And which ones would those be?!?

I see none of that... Isabela and Merrill were geared for us all!

(especially women...:P)

Well, the Lady Hawke/Merrill kiss had a dudeHawke/Anders kiss right above it :police:

And, she's done another quite steamier pic of dudeHawke with (I think?) Anders.

Hey guys, I'm getting the feeling that the LIs geared towards straight males seem to get much less attention in terms of fanart and fanfiction than the LIs gears towards female players. There is very little Merrill/male Hawke fanfiction out there. The fanart (save a few good sketches) is limited at best.

Merrill needs more love, guys.

Most fanart/fanfic is written by straight women, and most straight women draw/write about the male LIs. So, there's really not much Merrill art at all. Most of the Merrill art I've seen has been Merrill by herself, and most the Merrill/Lady Hawke art I've seen exists because I do nice things to MorningBird.

Dalish is WEIRD. She's a straight woman who PLAYS STRAIGHT DUDES. She's a freak of nature. But her Kenley/Merrill pics are really cute

This can be easily summed up by Most Fanfic Writers Are Girls

Sure, I prefer FemHawke to Garrett, but there's still a distressing lack of, well, anything Merill or straight MHawke on FF.net, the various art sites, the kink meme. It's even worse when it comes to Morrigan, but there's always Ximena and Demon's Within.

But enough of my seemingly irrelevant tangent.

Any links to her DA page? (If she has one)

Kind of like guys playing lesbians. Yes I have done this and it's AWESOME.

Okay umm, did kind of start comparing myself to Gamlen in my head for a second there. I'm gonna stop now.

Im weird in that when I play female characters, they are almost always straight. I plan to eventually do a run with Lady Hawke and romance Anders.

P.S. Pregnant Merrill is not cool. But, Pregant Merrill stabbing herself in the gut for blood magic totally is.

I'm inclined to disagree.

On which count? I could understand disagreeing with either.

It wasn't going to be, personally. But then Merrill (and Leliana before that, as it happens) had to go ruin it all by speaking. Those other poor sod romance interests never stood a chance after that.

"Various theories abound as to why, but the cause is most likely related to the fact that most visual porn is male-oriented (see: any adult video store or site) while most written porn is female-oriented (see: your local bookstore's erotica section)..."

I'd think it would be more related to the fact that all fiction (writing) is primarily consumed by women.

I added 'writing' so people don't think I'm talking about video games, movies, TV, etc.

Question, as the folks here might've paid more attention than others.

Other than saying that her clan lost their halla, does Merrill (or anyone else) say how or why they lost them? I've been searching and haven't found an answer yet.

I believe the explanation was that they weren't able to take the halla on the ship that brought the clan to the Free Marches.

Which is sad, because leaving them behind probably means they'll be slaughtered and eaten by the large body of human refugees. Which is good, because I'd rather people not starve after having lost their land to darkspawn.

Which is ambivalence on my part.

Some lucky refugee probably walked into Kirkwall with a pocketful of sovereigns from the halla horns he sold to get him into the city and then some.

Where does this explanation come from? I ask because I overheard some elves talking about the halla, one telling another (the hallherd whose name I can't recall) to not blame herself, that it what happened wasn't her fault. He said they'd get new halla, and she replied that it wouldn't be the same.

It seemed to me that something happened, and that something was more than them just not being able to take them on the ship.

That was the answer I got when I asked previously. I don't know where it's from, I was more concerned with the tragedy of the commons to follow.

I recall Merrill complaining about the smell of Halla on the ship to Kirkwall(I think with Carver), so I'd bet something happened after arrival.

Carver: Your people came a long way Merrill, but I like to think that we have Ferelden in common.
Merrill: I never saw Lothering. did you walk as much as we did? Probably more? We didn't stick with halla, our ship stunk.
Carver: Your ship?
Merrill: There was something foul in the hold. I can still smell it.
Carver: Oh, well, that must have been unpleasant.
Merrill: It was. Did I miss something dirty again?
Carver: No.
