Surprised it's not the same VA though, some of those lines sound exactly like Merrill.

Apparently Meredith would soul drain your LI during the fight and possibly kill them. Good thing that wasn't in the full game or I would rage at Bioware and Meredith for harming my Merrill.

I could never be a dick to Varric, regarding anything. Seriously that's just mean. Varric is that one friend you never want to be a douche to.
Besides, his concern over Merrill and Hawke is a lot better than Anders going "You realize she'll never pick you over a demon, don't you?" in his act 3 quest. Varric isn't being a jerk.
I couldnt get over the fact of when that happens. You drop down into the sewer and he's like "Gee Hawke, thanks for helping me pick through piles of **** for flowers so I can get rid of the spirit slowly consuming me *wink wink*, btw your girlfriend is a horrible person you shouldnt be in love with. Now let's go get those bomb, er potion ingredients."
And after the convo everyone draws their weapons. I was so ready to lay some beat down on Anders for that and I was very disappointed when I saw the enemies in the next room

I would be pissed beyond relief if they left that in the final game, especially if it can't be avoided.thesuperdarkone wrote...

Oh no that's totally in game. It just occurs when Meredith's health is so low that usually you can kill her before she does it. If she does it though it's pretty emotionally effective, she'll stab her sword through whoevers nearby and hold them skewered on the blade while she taunts. (I've had it happen with Varric, Merrill, Aveline, and Carver.) When it happened to Merrill I was pretty damn struck by the image of our beloved elf completely limp, barely able to hold onto her staff as she dangled on Meridith's sword.
Also the fanart of Merrill with her scarf as a hood. *D'aaaawwww:wub:* I imagine that's what she starts doing if you take her with you onto Isabela's new ship. Can't have our elf getting sunburnt.

Now that you brought that up, I do remember Meredith doing that to Isabela. Luckily, Merrill and the other ranged fighters are usually in the corners blasting away at her foes while the melee fighters are taking the crazed templar down. She won't touch my elven love!Blackout62 wrote...

I think I just died of happiness....
Now all I can picture is a Merrill-themed version of Alice in Wonderland.
complete with poison flowers and dire bunnies!

It's just beyond nosy.
- It's not even relevant to the task at hand
- He obviously knows Merrill more than Merrill knows Merrill.
- Merrill's one of the few good blood mages out there. And out of those few, she's the only one who hasn't ended up screwing things over with her blood magic. Other people screwed things up for her because they were idiots, but not Merrill.

Hawke: So why do you call her 'kitten'?"
Isabela: Why does Varric call her 'Daisy'?"
Hawke: Something about frollicking.
Isabela: She's just so cute, like a pale innocent kitten.
Hawke: Your little Meowificar.
Isabela: That's right, getting blood everywhere. Like trying to hold a cat with lengthy claws.
Hawke: Running between everyone acting cute till someone decides to pick her up. That's when she cuts you and uses your blood for her dark kitty magic.
Isabela: As you fall to the ground she stands in the puddle of your blood quietly lapping it into her mouth to gather more power.
Hawke: The Templars eventually come but all they can find is a delicate kitten that is really controlling their minds so they don't see the blood that cakes her face.
Isabela: All bow before the mighty Merrill, undefeatable kitten blood mage.
Hawke: Fetch her milk, sacrificial slaves, and feathers for her to paw at.
Drunken Isabela and Hawke roaming the streets after dark. It's times like these I hate being a night owl, I always think up the best things to write after midnight.
