I dont remember this scene being in the game.

It's likely another deleted scene. DanaDuchy includes a few, including one where Teegan is asking Hawke to help Connor get out of Kirkwall and another where Elthina says Hawke was impressive in how he dealt with Cassandra.

Just imagine how even more marvelous it would be to play DA2 with all deleted content! It's sad so much was deleted...

Heh. That particular instance of Merrill telling herself to shut up comes off as a little... schizophrenic to me.

Adorable and a little bit crazy.

but crazy in a good sense as Hawke mentions it later on

I agree. This game would've been a 9 in my book if even a fraction of the deleted content was added. Makes me sad how rushed this game is:(

How much more deleted content is there? Has anyone put together a comprehensive list?

You can try looking through all the videos of DanaDuchy. There are a few there.

Hah, oh my. Some of the cut lines are great.

"Just why do you pause every time your story takes us through a door?"
"Well I have to think! I can't remember everything at the drop of a hat, you know"

What I would like to see is an option to destroy the mirror. Maybe a quest where you have to bring Merrill to the hanged man and while Isabela or Varric draw her attention to something else you have to break into her hut and to smash the mirror.

She'll destroy the mirror on her own if you just rivalmance her (or play through without 1.02 patch), no need to go behind her back about it.

But not before Marethari has died. After you have destroyed the mirror the result could be a fight where she recognizes that this whole demon thing destroys her life before the dead of somebody else.
One of the few shooters that last in my brain is Mysteries of the Sith the addon of the game Jedi Knight. In the final battle you had to fight your former teacher but you could only end the fight and bring him back to reason by putting away all weapons and because his "good" spirit was stronger he refused to kill you.
And it could be the same with Merrill. Destroy the mirror and give her the choice to either kill you or to end her arrangement with the demon.

I'd have destroyed the mirror (and disposed of the remains, presumably) right around the time she wanted to consult the demon for advice, asking Hawke to tag along in case she's possessed in the process, myself. I really can't see why a rivalmance Hawke would go along with that.

People have been reporting wildly different numbers for what not giving her the mirror tool gives in rivalry, so somebody smart eventually figured out that that's what it did. Swaps any friendship into rivalry, then gives 15 rivalry points.

As I stated in my post a couple of pages back, this will only work if you haven't maxed out her friendship bar yet. If you already maxed it at 100, there will be no instant swap over to the rivalry path. You will still be locked at 100 friednship.

Considering the the game before the patch would break the mirror at the starts of Act 3 you can get the best of both worlds! :wizard:

@Somebody and Bleetman: Thanks for the info!

Does the latest patch allow Hawke to have the "talk" with Varric about Merrill?

Not yet, only Anders. I think you can call it up via the console (PC only I think)

And only in act 2. If you use the console in act 3 you receive the quest but you can't talk to Varric.

1.02 fixed one of the bugs affecting the conversation (messed up conversation links... pre1.02 Varric would start off talking about Merrill and end up talking about Fenris, if memory serves), but did not actually fix the bug that stops the conversation from triggering altogether.

this may be a little offtopic -but... if they [BW] were able to make [in patch 1.02] grenades and such orderable post-campagin from house then why couldn't  they allow Merrill to stay in Hawke's estate?

Merrill does stay in Hawke's estate. She moves in at the beginning of act three.

Really though, Merrill just doesn't seem comfortable living in the estate. The only possession she moves over is a small vase of flowers, and she's still focused on restoring the eluvian - not something she wishes to bring to Hawke's estate.

It's a character thing rather than a bug.

I just had to share this adorable image. Two reasons why bloodmages are just as adorable as anyone else! (Ariel is an apostate-bloodmage-spirit healer... or as she calls it, the "Templar Trifecta").

I finally got around to playing a purple personality Hawke, and some of Merrill's replies to the "jokes" are just hilarious. Too bad I'm still not gonna romance her this time around... leaving her for 4th <_<
