It got pretty mountainous by the end, come to think of it.

It's a shame you can't kill Aveline. I could chuck her on the big ol' pile of dead characters that are offensive to Merrill during the course of the game.

That's not nice. Aveline is one of my favorite characters. She only says one mean thing to Merrill, and it's paired with a compliment. In Acts II and III, she displays progressively greater affection for the woman.

One of my personal favorite moments in the game was the attempt to trick the guards with the fire. The whole "But there isn't really a fire is there?" thing. lol

Dude... by Act 3 their banters are totally full friendship. The "Will we win?" and "Borrow your mirror" banters make me tear up.bleetman wrote...

Did anyone else after seeing the cut scene where Anders insulted Merrill in justice decide that he needed to die? lol
The one where he says "she'll never choose you over a demon" or whatever?
Or another one? Because there are so many moments where Anders pisses me in this game.

Hawke: Seriously, who are you to give relationship advice? You last boyfriend went tranquil and then you shanked him and got all sulky.
Anders: I mean it Hawke, she gets so much as a paper cut and its over. Could you find it in your heart to love an abomination?
Hawke: Uhh... get your hand off my thigh.

That one cemented it for me that he needed to die. There were other times before that that he ticked me off with what he said to her I agree.

Anders: She'll turn into an abomination any second.
Hawke: How did you get into my house?!
Anders: *getting uncomfortably eye and eye with Merrill* Watch even right now the demon is at the edge of the veil, ready to adulterate her little elfy body.
Merrill: *pulls away from Anders in a way that could be seen as cute if she wasn't so terrified.* Only Hawke can say elfy. If you say it its just creepy.
Hawke: Maker was it the cellar? I had that entrance sealed years ago.
Anders: I used the sela petrae. It allows me to...pass through walls.
Merrill: Like a ghost? Is that what Justice lets you do.
Anders: *nervously* Yes.
Merrill: Ooh maybe the spirit can teach me that.
Anders: No, it'll only turn you into an abomination.
Hawke: Says the mage with glowing eyes and intangibility.
Anders: *clasping at straws* Fenris can pass through things.
Hawke: And you think just because your like Fenris it doesn't make you an abomination.
Anders: *defeated* Umm, yes.
Hawke: Get out of my house.
I always did wonder how companions just got into my estate. You'd think Bodahn could follow the simple rule of no d-bags on the premises.

It was at that point that Anders crossed the Complete **** Event Horizon for me. I also like how even the writers decided not to have Hawke be able to agree with Anders (rightly so) so it was purely just Anders being a jerk, on all levels.AgelessTimeless wrote...

Take solace in the fact that we can still kill Anders for being an --- to our favorite character. lol
wish it was a more satisfying murder knife scene though...
Hawke: This is for constantly going on about the mages plight! *stab* This is for leaving your manifesto everywhere! *stab* And this is for being mean to Merrill!!! *stab* *Anders slumps to the floor dead*
Hawke: Now where the hell is the bastard that blew up the chantry?

It can take up to a week for the servers to update. It's just a waiting game.
If you're using the game proper, though, you could try loading up the character and doing a few quests, then saving the game. That should force the game to update, and as long as you set the .png file to read only it won't be overwritten.
Not sure what I am doing wrong though.
When I view my DA2 characters in profile page, I see a Merrill avatar. When I try to change profile picture howevers, it still stays as the old character's avatar.

Obvious fade section aside, Merrill does insist on consulting the demon for advice in act three, regardless of her own fear it'll lead to her possession. Restoring the eluvian (and by extension, her deal with the demon) still seems more important to her than being with Hawke.
Not that I agree with Anders, but his accusations aren't entirely baseless.

Well, considering he threw that defintitive "she will" in there, on top of "first chance she gets"...yeah, he's pretty much entirely wrong. Anders falls into the same trap as Marethari in believing that he alone knows what will happen to Merrill.

Well considering the order in which I did the quests he made that comment after the demon was already dead and merrill was the one kidnapped in best served cold and so gave the little speech about how the one thing she couldn't live without was Hawke. Anders was in the party for that....
Personal opinion is that he is full of ---- with that comment.
Is there a video of Best Served Cold with Merrill as the kidnapped one, by the way? I'm never going to see it myself in-game.

Can't blame him for being suspicious, given what has already happened.
What Fenris tells her during his act two personal quest is what concerns me, that she has no idea just have many mages have walked the path she has. What's the saying, the path to hell is paved with good intentions? Even if we assume Marethari was wrong (which I personally don't) and that Merrill could have completed her task, gotten what she wanted from the demon and never risked herself being possessed, it's not the current deal which worries me. It's the deals to come.
During the course of the game, Merrill gives up so much in her quest. Her clan, her home, potentially her own life. She does it from her own conviction that restoring something, anything of what the Dalish have lost is worth the risk. Wryme doesn't tempt her with personal power, he offers the power to restore the elvhenan as a people, and whilst they're undoubtedly manipulated each companion is tempted with something they want.
Do you really think she's going to complete the Eluvian and stop there? I'm skeptical.
