My impression of the whole frolicking thing was that first I figured Merrill was making a joke. Which she does on rare occasions.

She makes quite a few jokes.

Merrill: I heard Varric saying you were a Grey Warden.
Anders: I was.
Merrill: I met a warden once. Back in Ferelden. Duncan, I think his name was. Very odd man.
Merrill: He had a marvelous beard, though. I'd never seen one before. I thought a squirrel had grabbed him by the chin.

Merrill: Ser Pounce-a-lot... who knighted him?
Anders: Is that a serious question?
Merrill: Did he have a little sword, or just his claws? I bet he had a dashing cap with a feather in it!
Anders: Would you stop making fun of my cat?
Merrill: Oh... no hat, then?

Merrill: You must really like the Hawke family.
Aveline: Why do you say that?
Merrill: You came all the way from Lothering with them, didn't you? And they're not even your clan.
Aveline: Humans don't have clans, Merrill.
Merrill: Exactly! You came so far together, and you didn't even have a Keeper to make you get along.
Aveline: So your Keeper tells you to stop kicking each other, or she'll turn the aravel around?
Merrill: Sometimes she also warns us to stop pulling hair.

Merrill: (Giggles)
Aveline: Yes?
Merrill: Is it like you thought? It's nice, isn't it? He seems nice.
Aveline: Yes, he's very nice.
Merrill: I know! And you're so cute when you're with him! Not like normal-you at all!
Aveline: Haven't you got something unholy to do?
Merrill: No, we're following Hawke. That's important, too.

I was using frolicking as a euphemism, anyway. I didn't think it needed to be said.

Oh, frolicking is a euphemism? That's clever.

Merril is such a keeper.. "..so few animals are interested in Dalish history"
it took me 4 playthroughs to notice that even in Gamlens house she will appear triggered by the mabari :)

love her character and development throughout the game.

to maria: i also love the dialogue with Aveline regarding "i love Hawke... " "i love Hawke.. " as answer to every question ;^) that was so funny, inchar and nice.

:(

There was apparently some confusion over it.

The other is that Frolicking does not necessarily mean ... it can also mean just prancing around and what not, which is more the picture that formed in my head.

I still think this is the case. I think it was not meant as a euphamism at all just simple frolicking. lol

The protagonist of the Dalish Origin, who otherwise dies if the protagonist is from another Origin.

The Dalish warden in Origins, if you chose the option to play a Dalish elf, otherwise they snuff it along with any other background you don't choose to play as. One of Merrill's clan before they left Ferelden.

I fully expect that to be the name for the next DLC for DA2.

The next dlc should apparently be a item pack.
I 'spouse that could be called "Don't F*ck with Merrill"

28 items exclusively for everyone's favorite Dalish elf. New side quests, and a central quest where all those who love Merrill gather together to plan an all night attack on those who would do her harm. AKA Hawke, Isabela, and Varric decide to toilet paper Fenris's mansion and rearrange the poultices in Ander's clinic FOR MERRILL!

Maybe Pol was a playa. Frolicking with half of the tribe.

Really? Pol reminded me of Cammen.

Yeah, he had no clue that she was intimating intimacy until she really laid it on thick.

I... really don't think that was what she was suggesting at all. She's a nice person. Why do tears imply intimacy?

Not Merrill, there is a Dalish elf that flirts with him the first time you go to Sundermount.

This. She's one of the hunters who later killed by the varterral.

Except she wasn't "flirting" with Pol. She was saying "Let's have sex."

The impression I got wasn't really that it was the first time for them. Pol's just an idiot, and doesn't catch on immediately.

Are the items intended for early in the campaign? I notice that the DLC items mostly become redundant after the first Act is over.

Personally, I thought she was being serious in these two. Might have been Eve Myles' delivery (though I can't quite recall what Merrill sounded like in the second one).

Merrill always has the same delivery, which is one of the reasons I enjoy her jokes. I suppose instead of 'joke,' I might say 'humorous comment where she's aware of the humor.'

If she was given to the Keeper when she was four, it's possible Merethari has told her to stop tugging at someone's hair, or that the Keeper has told someone else to stop tugging hair. While we don't see any Dalish children, they would probably have them running around camp and the Keeper would interact with them as an authority figure.

That said, I don't think it's literally true that Merethari once said that 'stop kicking or I'll turn this aravel around.' The humor for the player here is both the reference to the modern, real world and the image of the Dalish as a group of unruly children that the Keeper is mother to. I think Merrill picks up on the humor in that image and adds to it.

Aveline: Haven't you got something unholy to do?
Merrill: No, we're following Hawke. That's important, too.

Merrill obviously doesn't see her work as unholy. If she were being serious, she wouldn’t tacitly agree with Aveline's assessment.
