I've heard that if the clan is killed, then she breaks the mirror, even on the friendship path. I haven't gotten that far with her on a non-bugged game, so I'm not sure. But that could be why it disappears?

Clan wasn't off'd in my playthrough and the Eluvian still disappears from her home during Act 3.

I'd hope Merrill's tongue is a little less raspy than a cat's.

Side note: I like how she uses the Creators names in vain in the game.

Well, you could use that argument about real people who are all "God!"

In fairness, His name is actually Yahweh (or others, depending on language and translation). "God" is used to avoid invoking His name.

1) They don't know how to pronounce it.
2) It's kinda wimpy sounding compared to Mammon or Baal.

1) They could say Jehovah. They're cognate (and refer to the same entity).
2) Mammon and Baal are just compensating.

[EDIT] Baal is like "God" though, in that it's a title and not a proper name.

Her hair is longer and her positioning suggets that she is likely pregnant. Couldn't tell you for sure of course, but i'm willing to bet that's what the deal is.

About the mirror smashing - is this metaphoric or does the game actually show her breaking the eluvian? I've never seen her do this or heard her say anything suggesting she did it.

I totally did too. And that was before I knew anything. She was giving me the eyes, I know it. And when Merrill's all "I guess she doesn't need my help being the Hero of Ferelden anymore" and she sounded so sad... I wanted to cry! I was all "Look, it could be worse! She could have been made Tranquil and forced you to shank her!" 

And then hot sex would have happened.

well you see, the staff symbolizes Tevinter. The mirror symbolizes lost elven culture. By smashing the mirror, it equates itself with Tevinter destroying elven lore.
