My first playthrough was without a DA:O save and being biased for heroines I picked "The Martyr" background, hence the warden was a dead, Dalish and female. 

I found myself squeeing when the Dalish elves kept commenting how Merrill was especially broken-up with Mahariel's loss. More so when Merrill first discussed the mirror with Hawke and made references to Mahariel, saying something along these lines (Correct me if I'm wrong.)

"The keeper told me she died defeating the Archdemon, now I can never...anyway..."

I was like, "Wow...she had the hots for a female Mahariel, by default!" I may be reading too much into it but yeah, yay subtext.

Needless to say I had to play DA:O with a female Dalish just to see the difference and restarted DA:2 with that save.

Anyone else noticed this?

She says it for any imported Mahariel, male or female, but yeah, I noticed it. Very first time I ever played the Dalish origin and Merrill gives that longing stare as he walks towards destiny with Duncan, I knew something had to be up. 

True, but I was more knocked out by the fact that even with default female martyred Mahariel, there was still something. I played with the new save though (living f/Mahariel), and she seemed "meh the Hero of Ferelden doesn't need me anymore". 

She sounded like a jilted lover, made my Hawke want to hug and comfort her right then ;_;

On a serious note, +attack and +damage, yeah. Basically, anything that would be good for a DPS warrior is probably good for a rogue, excluding +attribute stuff.

I think that's open to interpretation and how you roleplayed your Dalish Warden.

I know Merrill and my Warden were lovers. I wouldn't dream of saying that that's universally true, though.

That was never a consensus. Tamlen was in love with Mahariel, and Pol was frolicking with one of the hunters who were killed by the varterral.

Merrill and Tamlen or Mahariel and Tamlen? 

If it's the former, not that I've ever heard of. If it's the latter, that's for an alternate F!Mahariel - in my own head Mahariel's a dude.

I imagine one-sided or never confessed to Mahariel for Merrill. It makes for more interesting material. I haven't written a fic in years, might as well pick up on it now. =D

Varric is a little different than Sebastian or Isabela because he never has to worry about gear requirements. Nothing Varric uses requires a stat, so you can change the way he stats out. Varric's a rogue, and you usually want around 35-40 dexterity. You want to push his crit close to 100%, then once you hit that point, you stack on as much +crit damage and as much +attack speed as you can get.

Generally, you want a 100% hit rate against bosses. Any more +attack is worthless. There's no maximum to crit damage or attack speed.

The former, may be misremembering though. I do however remember that Pol was brought up when it came to Merril's previous sexual experience, which I found odd. The latter has been done lots and lots in the realms of fanfic.

Pol *was* brought up, but I think most ended up dismissing it.

There's just nothing that indicates they were intimate, while Pol *was* frolicking with not-Merrill.

The Dalish Origin, being the last origin I did a complete run through of, was a real heartbreaker with Tamlen since there was NOTHING you could do to get some kind of resolution. In the CE you could kill Vaughn, and in the HN you could kill Howe. But SONUVAB**CH you get to kill Tamlen, that is not resolution, thats just f**king twisted. So to me the Dalish Origin is the most tragic of them all. ALthough I haven't gotten a dwarf of either origins past Lothering.

Anywho, I loved scaring Pol in the Dalish Origin.

Huh. That's a new one to me, tbh, I've never seen any fanfic with that pairing. In the Dalish origin Pol was so new to the clan Mahariel didn't even know who he was.

I mean pre-emptively dead via mirror. The Martyr premade actually did some **** before she died.

btdubs, off-topic, what's with the Sebastian hate I keep seeing across the forum? I mean, he's not my favorite character by any stretch, but he's a decent guy and I enjoy his rivalry path. And judging by the kink meme, I'd think he'd be the subject of a lot more love.
