I've been thinking (meaning, it just occured to me) would anyone be interested in a Merrill Monday/Merrill day?

This is a thing. You pick a day and post fan stuff like art and short-fics. Your own or just things you like.

Oh my. I shiver in delight.

I saw Merrill and Monday in the same sentence.

I now no longer hate Mondays.

Monday 12am-7am is the end of my Thursday, and Monday 11pm-12am is the beginning of my friday. So Merrill Monday is an awesome way to end my work week.

Its not really awesome, 'cause I gotta work the weekends. There is essentially nothing to do on the weekends except make sure we keep broadcasting and putting each day's programming to begin at 5am every morning.

...

But yeah, for Dragon Age 3 I defintely want Merrill to return. Even if they couldn't get the same VA for her, as long as Mary is still writing her I'd be all over that sequel. Man, DA2 is one of the few games I wish had a portable version like for the PSP, that way I could take Merrill everywhere!

I do too. It's odd how Merrill is the only one with an actual armor change unlike the others where they're just recolors and/or a red strap(REALLY?!)

Red strap being Isabela? She also has a black corset thing (I think that's what it's called), it's a bit bugged though.

Fenris gets one too. They're 'favors', representative of the one they're with.

I love Merrills' white armor, she is worth protecting. ALthough when I think too much about the chainmail I feel like I'm being choked. *Not a fan of turtlenecks, here*

Some sort of metal pauldron, too.

Merrill is the only one that actually gets an entirely different outfit, though, at least to my knowledge. Haven't slept with Fenris or Anders yet, only barely intend to, and while Fengirls write reams of fic about Hawke's "favor" to Fenris I've literally heard nothing about Anders' outfit.

Well he does wear robes, he probably just shifts his little stave to the righthand side.

Anders' alternate appearance has nothing to do with his romance though. Right? Probably why...

Yeah, the wiki says him changing into the black robes is dependent on doing his Act III quest and independent of the romance.

Good thing too, it's pretty snazzy looking. Shame in my games he typically is only wearing it for a few hours before *shank*.

I hate Merrill's white armor. Not only does it elongate her already long neck, the color scheme reminds me of Isabela's outfit crossed with some kind of proclamation of love/ wedding thing and ... yeah.

I just hate it. Let's leave it at that.

The only thing that annoys me about it is the neck, and that's only because the chainmail looks like it was painted onto the model rather than actually being, you know, chainmail armor.

If BW would just release a ****ing toolset that problem would be solved in a week.

Yeah. Merrill's white armor looks really strange around the neck. I prefer her non romance outfit. Fits her better, imo.

We can keep dreaming, but I don't think it will happen. Especially not now, after BioWare decided that armor packs are the new way to make money with DA2. Hooray! No Tools for us! No time for the DLC department to focus on new content! But don't be sad! At least we get to look like an orlesian chevalier Posted Image

Item packs primarily take a technical designer to create the items, and a texture artist to create the art assets. Neither of them would be primarily involved with working on a toolset, nor would they be heavily involved with creating story-related DLC. They other developers working on other DLC in the meantime. The item packs are just small things that aren't expected to get huge sales, but is so cheap to make that it can pay for itself in as little as a few hundred downloads.

Sure thing, but giving a toolset to the commuity would be counterproductive, wouldn't it? Why should people buy the item packs, when they can get new armors for free?

Anyway my complains about the toolset and the item packs are not Merrill relevant. I'll go and nag somwehere else Posted Image

A toolset doesn't really help to create items though; you need real 3D editing software, like maya or max and texture editing tools like illustrator or photoshop. You don't actually need a toolset to create items, you just need one to place them as rewards in quests and such.

Also, if VG Chartz is anywhere near accurate, the majority of the people who own and play Dragon Age (origins or 2) do so on the console (~3:1 ratio of console players to PC). Console owners can't use mods either.

As for why you'd pay to get them? You get professional work, done by professional artists. Free stuff tends to run the gamut of quality and artistic ability, and I'm personally not particularly interested in buying armor that makes Hawke look like a giant wang.

We actually don't need a toolset to make items quest rewards, either. We can already do that. Just saying.

I don't really like my favourite companion's alternate outfit either. Thankfully (at least on PC) there's always some good alternatives!

In case of Origins you need the toolset if you want to use self created item-models because you need the GraphicsProcessor.exe files to create the mmh and msh files. I don't see any new DA2-models on nexus, only texture,tint-alterations, so maybe the exe-files from the old toolset don't work anymore. I haven't tried to create a model for DA2 but it could be.

@Jade Elf
I use the same mod. For me it is the best looking I found until now.
