I never gave it much thought actually, romanced her every playthrough save for one where I dabbled in piracy with a magnificent salty sea wench. I could see her helping out city elves or wandering thedas for more elfy trinkets, but as I said, I haven't given it much thought and I'm terrible at predicting behavior for anything smarter than a dog.

*Edit*  Merril Monday early contribution, as I won't be near a PC again.

not sure about the concept for the hands yet. critisism greatly welcomed, prefered even! I need fresh eyes to pick it apart and point out the things that need fixin'. be brutal but constructive, my big stong man feeling can take it.

I was gonna say the ears aren't long enough but then I went into my vast catalog of Merrill screengrabs (someone tell me I'm not the only one with one of these) and she does have shorter ears than other elves. Damnit Bioware will you ever remove the differences in ear size between protagonists and everyone else.

Whatever, rip'em to shreds Merrill. Rip them with blood!

I'll admit I nibbled them down to their current size. Its not cannibalism if If she's a different yet sexually compatible species.

Something about the proportions doesn't quite look 100%, but it's close...

Seem a bit on the small size, even with all the perspective shortcuts going. Also given the emotional outburst she seems to be coming through wouldn't she more likely to be clenching them?

(unless that's what she's supposed to be doing, in which case disregard. Kinda hard to tell from the sketch atm)

Polymorphicgirl posted a little comic featuring her (tsundere) templar and Merrill.
Here's part 1
And part 2

Sorry if it's already been posted, this thread seems to go so fast I have trouble keeping track of what's posted. Plus I sorta went back and looked to see.

I'm already re-working the hands/arms, they wont be clenched fists however as she will be casting spells, lightning and roots is what I have planned at the moment, as for the proportions, I know something is off I was just hoping someone could spot what it was lol, I'll try stretching out the body a little see what happens. thank you folks, much appreciated, and keep it coming, it is valuable learning.

I don't like how much she's leaning forward. I don't dislike that she's leaning forward, but it's to succa degree that her spine seems painfully contorted. That's all that stuck me as off.

Merrill: Varric, how does the story end?
Varric: Which story Daisy.
Merrill: The big one, with us and Hawke, the mages, the templars everything.
Varric: You wanna know before it happens? You're not worried about spoiling the surprise.
Merrill: I might not see it end.
Varric: You have to stick with us if you wanna know how it turns out Daisy.

I think the demon told Merrill about the 4th wall.

that's an easy enough question to answer, does your Hawke believe in letting people do their own thing or does he/she believe they know best and are somehow entitled to "protect" others from themselves by imposing their will on them?

I did the friendmance last time, and I was ready to go with it again, but I do sometimes think about the whole "If you see a friend playing with fire what do you do?" thing.

first off, re-reading my post, it may have come off as a little hostile, which wasn't directed at you, just wanted to make that clear.

second, i understand that you mean, my philosophy on the matter makes it VERY difficult to rival Merrill even if I thought what she was "playing with fire".

she is trying to help her people in the only way she thinks she is able to, she has been shown to take precautions and has an understanding of the risks she is taking, "saving" someone from their own perceived folly when that someone has the mental faculties of a functioning adult always comes off as arrogant to me, so, even if i disagree with her actions (which I rarely do, but it happens) I can never justify to myself withholding the knife.

Right, the only thing really keeping me from Rival is the fact that I know she's basically been preparing for this for years. She's not just blindly walking in without any idea of the danger.

It'd be sort of neat if she was holding a staff or something. Maybe Merathari's staff that you get after she sacrifices herself, I feel like Merrill would use that staff because it would hold some meaning to her, being the staff of the person who raised her and gave her life for her afterall. *rambles on endlessly like a fool*

I also think that would look cool.

I was throwing the idea around in my head to give her a staff, was going to go with staff of Parthalan, Hawke family heirloom gifted to her and all, but I settled on a knife in one hand and bloody open hand for the other, I have something in mind for the blood that may or may not be cool, but I wont know for sure until its down on the canvas.

After thinking entirely too much about the Friend/Rival matter, I see it this way:
For three years, Merrill hangs around with Hawke and goes along on whatever insane quest he (or she) asks her to, to explore the Deep Roads, or fight (evil)blood mages, and so on and so forth. Merrill is completely cool with this, even if she doesn't agree with Hawke. I think that very least Hawke can do is trust her with the Arulin'Holm after Merrill has trusted Hawke so much. Not to mention the aforementioned part of the arguement about how she clearly knows what she's doing in terms of blood magic and dealing with Audacity.
I'd love it if one quest (after rivalling Merrill) involved Hawke needing Merrill's help with another dangerous runaround, and she ends up saying no and giving a lecture about how she cares about Hawke, but just wants to protect Hawke from him/herself. Judging by how much mortal danger Hawke gets into on a regular basis, this would be a pretty good argument to make...

There is unfortunately a difference between knowing, and thinking you know. I doubt she'd consider herself susceptible to Wryme either.
