I just remembered what that Merrill pic from above reminded me of. You know the scene from near the beginning of Big where Tom Hanks is in the hotel room, crying? It's like that, only with Merrill.

Of course, Merrill would probably think the sound of somebody getting mugged outside is her welcoming party coming, so maybe it doesn't fit...

Hawke: Anybody home?
Merrill: 'ello Hawke! Sorry I didn't come right away I heard a commotion through my wall. I had my ear to it.
Hawke: Oh, really?
Merrill: Yes, alot of grunting and swearing. Very exciting!
Hawke: Well, I'm glad you're in a good mood. Here - have a cookie.
Merrill: Its a bit... dirty.
Hawke: Well I had to wrestle it away from a Qunari. Bought the last one, wouldn't even take a sovereign for it.
Merrill: Ooh, an EXCITING cookie!
*hugs Hawke, crushes cookie between them*
Merrill: Oh no! I'm so sorry.
Hawke: No worries. I saw some Coeterie smuggling some orlesian confections near the docks. I'll be back.
Merrill: Okay, I'll clean up these crumbs and set out some glasses with water.

Merrill's friendship speech after her clan is killed in A New Path is really sad...

Ah don't tell me that or I'll end up slaughtering the whole clan just to hear Merrill's sweet voice.

No, you're not. My canon Warden was a (mostly) pragmatic Surana Warden who asked for the Magi boon, and left through the Eluvian in the end. I wonder if the Amell mage exists in that universe...

The first time I killed Merrill's I thought I had done something wrong (gameplay wise), then when I learned that the only way to have them live is by taking the blame putting it all on Merrill I said "Screw it, I'll stick with genocide."

Now however I'm on a mission to kill every possible character voiced by Sebastian's VA, Alec Newman. Nothing against him personally, his voice was just over used. Pretty sure I have my kill count around 6 or 7.

As you can probably tell I've grown bored with DA2... I need more Merrill content...

Personally, I'll be holding out for Merrill in New Vegas' "Honest Hearts" DLC. :wizard:

I have my doubts that any new Merrill content will surface. Most DLC don't really deal with existing party members, and since I presume DA2 will be taking the Mass Effect route with DLC I'm guessing there WILL be good story DLC, but it will probably hardly involve the party members at all. At least in any speaking roles. And that comes down to the fact that the actors are all off probably doing their own thing at the moment and it would be expensive to get them all back just to play their roles for a short period just for a DLC that not everyone will buy.

They brought back Claudia Black for the Witch Hunt DLC. Between that, Leliana's song, and LotSB It doesn't seem like Bioware is against companion specific DLC.

I suppose that's true, though at the same time those people werent present in any other DLCs, and as I said I'm figuring they're going to go for the Mass Effect approach this time around and use the existing party for all DLC.

I'm also basing this off the fact that Merrill's actor is Eve Myles, who's not really a common Bioware actor and may be harder to get a hold of.

I thought she had done more work with Bioware than just Dragon Age?

She was in Mass Effect 2 aswell. Probably had her doing voice actor for Witch hunt in the same sitting, but then claudia black does alot of VA in games.

I doubt we'll get a companion specific DLC as well. However I fully expect DA2 to get either an expansion pack or DLC large enough to cover whatever event causes the Champion to disappear. We also know that our LI sticks around with Hawke. So while we may not get everyone (I won't be getting Anders back thats for certain) I hope my romanced Merrill and Isabella games have them and not just some letter saying "Sorry I can't be with you".

Act 4 DLC/Expansion would be very disappointing otherwise. Of course if we get all new companions we should start taking bets on which one will be completely changed in order to ruin the end of DA3.

One can always hope.

It would certainly be DLCs that people would buy, especially if they are the quality of LotSB.

I was mostly saying how I'm not really certain we'll get any companion specific stuff. I still would like to get it though, even if it is unlikely.

I've pinned all my hopes of rescuing the general story of DA2 on an Act IV xpack. If they manage to screw that up, and getting rid of the current companions and LIs would be one of the best way to do that, I'm done with this game, and pending information about theoretical DA3, the series.

Mass Effect is my baby anyways.

DA2 wasn't that bad, now wasn't it? I personally want an expansion pack. One that expands upon the story from the unfinished ending that was DA2. And all the characters who survived should be in it.

As for DLC, that might be good for exploring some of the character's backstories someone, kind of what Leliana's Song did.

This isn't really the place for this discussion, but suffice to say that while I thought DA2 was a decent game and still mostly enjoyed it, as a sequel to DA:O it's lackluster and has mostly sucked away my enthusiasm for the franchise.

I mean, I derive most of the fun from Merrill (and Varric and Isabela) and Snarky!Hawke, rather than the gameplay or story.

Esbatty needs to repost his version of that exchange. It was awesome.

And then go post it in the Anders thread.
