Fanfiction is a non-professional work based on an established IP. A story in which Wolverine and Optimus Prime team up to defeat the Archdemon isn't canon, but it's certainly fanfiction.

I'd like to keep my story as plausible as possible, so its more a self-imposed restriction. I've already taken several liberties as it is, via using my bugged double romance Hawkex(Friendship Izzy+Rival Merrill), but since it could happen thanks tot he bug I counted it as canon but the lack of knowledge of the Dalish bonding drives me uhh... batty.

 i agree with maria about the fanfiction thing, but people like to keep it in the realm the fiction is in (unless they do cross-over ones that is)

also, if  bethany was still in the party in acts 2 and 3, what would the party banter between merrill and her be if hawke decides to romance her (actual dialogue, not just the reaction. please type full banter to show)

It wasn't right on her, either.  I have decided there are no ways to change Merrill without losing something integral to the character.  The only one of the companions I really feel okay to change is Anders, and that's cause I think the original DA2 Anders is ghastly.  Merrill is just too CUTE to change, but I had to try and figure that out, nonetheless.  Captured the screenie during one of my attempts.  She's back to looking cute, no worries, lol.

I agree with this. Though it's possible that has different implications for you than it does for me.

If I read a piece and think 'this is Merrill exactly as Mary would write her,' then it's a good writer. If I read a piece and think 'this is not at all how Mary would write Merrill,' but I still believe in the character, then it's a better writer.

After playing a mage and getting Carver instead of Bethany I actually gotta disagree with you.

Bethany had the personality of a plank frankly. Where as Carver actually seems to have his own motivations and doesn't try to be your biggest fan, but at the same time he has this sort of begrudging respect for you.

Well, this isn't the Bethany or the Carver thread, so I'll avoid fighting too hard over it.

But, and I feel this is very important to say, "being a jerk" does not equal "having a personality." Nor does "being nice and friendly" equal "bland."

 i think you don't read the codex, because according to bethany's codex she is closer to hawke than carver is, while carver (if hawke is a warrior/rogue) is jealous of how good a fighter Hawke is.

now back to my question: how would carver react to merrill being hawke's LI?
