Yes, but would've Merrill taken that demon bullet if Hawke was there?

I don't expect many people are willingly possessed by demons. It still happens.

In a toss up between the twenty-something mage and the several-thousand-year-old pride demon, I don't have a hard time deciding who's going to be better at manipulating who.

You've forgotten the "You just kicked my puppy" eyes, haven't you?

And I'm not saying Merrill would've gotten what she wanted from it. I'm just saying it's not a lead pipe lock she'd have been an abomination just because Marethari was.

In the immortal words of sarcastic Hawke, "Getting possessed never helps anything."

As I said in Isabela's thread, Isaballsa doesn't upset me. He's kind of handsome. But the mesh undershirt on Manrill just makes me frown.

Manrill however has scarred me for life. :crying:

That would make choosing between her and Merrill extremely diffcult, though. :(

Manrill would be my bestest friend. I'd taking him whoring with Isabelo/Isaballsa/Isadore whatever you call male Isabela, we'd go drinking. Oddly enough in a Rule 63 Dragon Age Universe Aveline would be the only one NOT to switch genders.

There was just no way I could rival Merrill after reading the description on her abilities menu: "Merrill's all alone in the world and has learned she can rely on no one."

Sometime's being a friend means trusting someone, even if you disagree. Everyone else may not have believed in her, but Merrill certainly believed in herself, and that was enough to convince me to help her. Besides, Hawke helped her defeat the demon; if her clan had helped her instead of shunning her, maybe no one would've been hurt. The fear of blood magic ended up claiming more lives than blood magic itself.

As Hawke can say "Fear did more damage to your clan than blood magic ever did"

We all do. We all do.

I tend to just ignore the rival/friendship meter and their bonus descriptions as much as possible. If there was a mod that made the point shifts invisible on screen, I'd use it.

You know I do find it funny.
On Anders rival path he get: +50 health regeneration rate.

That would be a great boost for a blood mage.

Also damn.
My canon is rivaling more then half his squad.
Merrill, Fenris, Anders, Sebastian.

Varric, Isabela, and Aveline I friend.

We just killed their keeper because she took the demon bullet for yah honey.
Its ending just soured me to it.

I'm wondering why she felt it necessary to "take the demon bullet" in the first place. The demon was quite firmly trapped inside that statue, wasn't it? If she was so worried about the demon possessing Merrill, couldn't she just have made the statue inaccessible, like causing a massive cave in or magically sealing the cave entrance, or anything even remotely more intelligent than allowing herself to be possessed and not telling anyone?

She could've parked a wooden cart in front of the cave entrance, or assembled an ankle high line of pebbles. Such things are apparently considered insurmountable obstacles in the Free Marches.

"This is Merrill. She is about to use blood magic to summon a demon to help her find out more about her people's past by fixing a tainted mirror. This fate could have been avoided, if she had had a Sassy Gay Hawke."
"What, what, what are you doing?"

Yeah, I'm sorry i've been watching these videos, and thought, "Hey, Merrill is perfect for this!"

So........ Yeah.......
I'd really like to see someone come up with a dialogue for this.

She had to take the demon inside her. It's what I'd like to refer as "DA2 Logichaos". It's just like how I tell Sister Patrice to screw herself and how I won't help her get that collared qunari out of the city. But then I'm stuck doing it anyway cause my quest log forces me to do it. Sure Varric agrees it's a bad idea. But I have to do it. Or like when I hand over Grace despite wanting her dead. I even select "These are your blood mages" but instead it's something like "Take this refuse back to the circle.". Also the Arishok can't even once go "Hey have you seen my book? You know the one your **** of a friend stole?" Nope. Nothing...

In letting herself get possessed, Marethari ensured that the demon would reach the outside world.
Definitely endangered the clan there more than anything Merrill did.
