I totally agree with you, but there are those of us who went on about wanting a female elf companion and who actually like what we see so far. I think Merrill looks great, and I can't wait to hear her voice and see her personality in action.

Sten= Brooding, tact, but loves cookies and kittens and fluffy cute things.... but you wouldn't know now would you?
Merrill= Giggles, prances, sings.... but crushes all that is cute and soft.

Screw fans...how? Unless you think our entire party outside our sibling is going to be romancable, there are only two LIs. Isabela is the bisexual option. There is no only gay option.

Sadly, his voice is a little deep for her petite form. But I would love to have him in there somewhere - like John Cleese in Jade Empire.

to me this video game character is as old as you imagine her to be.. she can be a young looking adult or a adult looking child.. I am picturing a young looking adult, which I think was the intention. If you think child and then jump to sex and then say oh.. i feel dirty now, must yell out things against this in the forums... thats your problem..

I doubt anyone could look at a child and say "Yeah, she looks old enough..."

Like I said, if she looks like a child to some people, they can't change that. That's what she looks like. The option is don't romance her, so I have no pity for them.
 

I have said it before and will say it again.. Bethany is hot.. I could care less if in the game she is the sister of my roleplayed imaginry character. I can still look at the pixel as judge her looks without "OMG you are wierd, she is your sister" she is not MY sister.. she is Hawkes..

It's fine if you think Bethany is hot--but to want to romance her is creepy. Hawke is your PC. Hawke is her brother. No. That's disgusting.

Yes, in the M/M thread. Cost, time, and resources aren't justified by the tiny demographic, unfortunately. I'm sure if they could change it, they would--but this is a limited resource world.

I'm going to start by saying I do not think Merrill should be a LI BUT if she was I do not understand the issue of the fact that she looks presumably younger than she actually is. If she is a certain age and has the emotional maturity of a certain age what exactly is the issue? Personally I'm almost twenty-two and pretty much get told on a daily basis I look much younger somewhere around 16 on the good days it's just a fact of life. I don't think she should be blacklisted for the way she looks, is my point. That being said we're doing an awful lot of judging based on a few seconds of footage, at a different angle maybe she does look older. Personally, from the images and brief bit of information Mary and Sheryl provided she doesn't, in my opinion, give off the LI vibes.

What I don't understand - and I'll quit my tirade with this point - is how Bioware can craft such a marvelous and unique looking universe in Mass Effect, and then struggle so much with it in Dragon Age. Do they have completely separate design teams?

Man, I'm sick of how people don't think things through when they post. It doesn't matter what design teams who has it's the fact that there are constraints in fantasy games. In Sci Fi games with aliens, you don't have to use pre created species'. There is no set list of alien types your allowed to use. You can create anything you want. But with fantasy, as long as you're using elfs and dwarfs, you can't exactly do any radical changes or they just won't be elfs and dwarfs anymore. There's a limit to how different you can make them with all the things you have to keep the same.

In every game where they've offered same-sex love interests, there has always only been one. Could they change that? Certainly. There's no reason to assume that they will do so however.

There are six major companions. If there are three romancable companions, that means your entire party is romancable. There's not a chance.

Isabela is the bisexual open. Both M/F and F/F. I assumed, because you weren't acknowledging that and kept bringing up wanting Merrill to be the F/F LI, you meant you wanted her to be a lesbian.

Don't worry, that's not offensive. Anyhow: Young, pretty, female. Elf. Other female (who is not confirmed as a LI) is Aveline, an older widow with a very muscled physique, and strong features that aren't quite "pretty" enough for average standards.

There's yet to be a non-DLC character that was both young and attractive that couldn't be pursued, to the best of my recollection.
