I bet if Bethany WASN'T Hawke's sister and was totally available for LI status, people would STILL complain about how her hair is too curly.

BTW. Merrill for love and support, FTW! I hope she ends up destroying everyone. Watch her be a secret weapon. Like an atomic weapon within the skins of a kitten. You will least suspect how crazy she is! Don't let those precious features decieve you.
I totally agree with you, but there are those of us who went on about wanting a female elf companion and who actually like what we see so far. I think Merrill looks great, and I can't wait to hear her voice and see her personality in action.HolyJellyfish wrote...
I love how everyone was going on about wanting a non-human female elf companion who hopefully is also the antithesis of Isabela and perhaps an LI. Along comes Merrill, and then comments like :
"Her chest is too big!"
"Her eyes are buggy!"
"I can't date a little girl LI! That's just creeptastic!"
rolls in with the carpet.
OMG, what do the devs have to design to make everyone happy with a female LI?! I bet if Bethany WASN'T Hawke's sister and was totally available for LI status, people would STILL complain about how her hair is too curly.

Are we talking about Merrill or Sten in an elf outfit with pointy ears?
He must be learning to be lithe and poor...

It's Merrillcat. Merrill as a kitten. The intent was for something cute.
Sure, it's all fuzzy-cuddly, kitteny-cute.
Then BAM...
Hawke will turn around, and Kitten-Merrill will look like that, mark my words.

Thanks BioWare for giving us exactly what we wanted.

AS one of the people who was asking for a female elf I must say "I'm luvin it"

Well I highly doubt bioware would screw the fans like that. Besides I don't remember where but I believe in the Isabela thread they said this. They being the devs. This being that she was the Zevran like romance character and that there was another F/F.

Wait, are you saying Merrill is being played by Stephen Fry? Is there some convoluted way that could actually work?

to me this video game character is as old as you imagine her to be.. she can be a young looking adult or a adult looking child.. I am picturing a young looking adult, which I think was the intention. If you think child and then jump to sex and then say oh.. i feel dirty now, must yell out things against this in the forums... thats your problem..
I have said it before and will say it again.. Bethany is hot.. I could care less if in the game she is the sister of my roleplayed imaginry character. I can still look at the pixel as judge her looks without "OMG you are wierd, she is your sister" she is not MY sister.. she is Hawkes..

I do remember Gaider saying something about how there would be hetero and bi LIs, but not strictly ******. Something about demographics or whatever.

I'm going to start by saying I do not think Merrill should be a LI BUT if she was I do not understand the issue of the fact that she looks presumably younger than she actually is. If she is a certain age and has the emotional maturity of a certain age what exactly is the issue? Personally I'm almost twenty-two and pretty much get told on a daily basis I look much younger somewhere around 16 on the good days it's just a fact of life. I don't think she should be blacklisted for the way she looks, is my point. That being said we're doing an awful lot of judging based on a few seconds of footage, at a different angle maybe she does look older. Personally, from the images and brief bit of information Mary and Sheryl provided she doesn't, in my opinion, give off the LI vibes.
Man, I'm sick of how people don't think things through when they post. It doesn't matter what design teams who has it's the fact that there are constraints in fantasy games. In Sci Fi games with aliens, you don't have to use pre created species'. There is no set list of alien types your allowed to use. You can create anything you want. But with fantasy, as long as you're using elfs and dwarfs, you can't exactly do any radical changes or they just won't be elfs and dwarfs anymore. There's a limit to how different you can make them with all the things you have to keep the same.slimgrin wrote...

I kind of like that they're more distinctive now. They aren't as "pointy ear humans" anymore.
The more I look, the more I see a cliche elf. I really had faith they'd bring a different visual take on the elves this time. And Fenris does look pretty damn cool. Then there's this creature....
What I don't understand - and I'll quit my tirade with this point - is how Bioware can craft such a marvelous and unique looking universe in Mass Effect, and then struggle so much with it in Dragon Age. Do they have completely separate design teams?

Dalish elves live longer than humans, anyway. I imagine that she is at least the Dalish Elf PC's age.
And I think she absolutely gives LI vibes. To the nth degree.
Two? Where'd you get that? And I never said only gay, I said F/F, I didn't mean only gay, i meant also possible as F/F, while still being M/F.Saibh wrote...

Screw fans...how? Unless you think our entire party outside our sibling is going to be romancable, there are only two LIs. Isabela is the bisexual option. There is no only gay option.
