Tali doesn't disagree with her people's leadership particularly
Nor is she exiled from her people unless you have crappy Paragon/Renegade scores.

Welsh is foreign unless you're from Wales. Merrill's VA is the only VA from Wales. Her accent is foreign.

More importantly, because Merrill isn't her VA, the Dalish and Quorians occupy the same 'outsider' status within their respective universes. Hawke and Shepard would hear an accent when Merrill and Tali speak.

Wales is in Britain, the accents are mostly British.  Apart from her clan, who are Irish.

And Tali's accent doesn't seem to be a Quarian thing, since many of them lack it. Maker knows how accents work with universal translators, anyway.

Both can turn on the protagonist for doing something they feel is immoral (and can end up dead):  check

You can do the same thing with any combinations of characters really. I hate when people do those comparisons about how X character is a copy of Y character.

There seems to be some speculation that we will get to see what happens to the companions after the Right of Annulment in Kirkwall - I wonder what possibilities might be explored with Merrill. Since the Dalish clans are nomadic because the templars hunt their mages and their history references templars entering the Dales after the elves kicked out the human missionaries, I wonder if Merrill's actions with a pro-mage Hawke will have any impact among the Dalish clans. If the entire world is watching the events of Kirkwall, I would imagine a Dalish mage taking on the templars in the heart of their seat of power over eastern Thedas would have meaning.

I doubt that Merrill's involvement will make her a rallying point for the Dalish. By the time they hear about Merrill's involvement in Kirkwall, they will have also heard of her murdering her keeper/her entire clan(I stress that I don't believe she murdered anyone, but I feel that's certainly how the Dalish will hear and interpret it). The perceived betrayl of clan would likely make the Dalish unsympathetic to any cause she champions, even if it's one that potentially benefits them.

Is she even still considered Dalish though after living so long among the humans and leaving her clan.. Her clan either all hating her or are dead. Maybe the Dalish would just consider her another city elf now

Umm, that's why you went back to the ruins. It wasn't the only reason, but it was one of your main objectives.

Unless you're referring to a mission to find Tamlen in DA2. There wasn't any. Because he's dead.

You can kill both of them, and Bioware will Retcon them to be alive. Zevran was a glitch though. Leliana, though, is a permanent Retcon.
I didn't kill either of them, too, but that's what I heard from some people. Just making a point.

I'm always astounded how people make an issue out of a retcon that doesn't personally affect them. It's almost as though the people on this forum just like to complain.
