Combat was so easy on my canon that I was often wondering if I was playing on Hard.

Varric makes a mob disoriented, Merrill uses wounds of the past, then my canon did a CCC.
Leading to lots of dead people very quickly.

Unless they were archers... dear god I hate archers.

Yeah, my canon Hawke was a 2 -handed warrior with reaver/templar, and I played on Hard.
He one-shotted everything at half-health.
I wish the Hawke's Key had a rune slot for the primeval rune. Makes me sad.
And archers must be erased from existence. They always target Merrill! =(

I tried briefly to rival Merrill but I couldn't do it. she is just too cute and innocent. My Hawk doesn't like blood mages but Merrill's sweet voice and pure dumness make him melt every time he wants to say anything bad. She just bats her eyes and says something cute. Just makes you go awww! DAMN HER CUTENESS!!!

Yeah, I want to steer Merrill away from the blood magic, but I can't bring myself to Rival her.

My Hawke's a big, 200-something pound manly-man; He'll just hide Merrill's knives and insist she use his battle wounds for blood magic. Problem solved! ;)

What's that you say? Giant evil mirrors demanding blood? We'll, I'm sure we can leave a couple punctures open for after work.

Honestly, this was my one issue for Merrill + blood magic, as she's sensible enough not to go off talking to demons without Hawke.

I actually don't have a problem with Merrill's blood magic. Other than myself when I play a mage, she's really the only person I've met in Thedas I trust with it.

Blood magic isn't inherently evil. It's a tool, one that admittedly gets used for evil more often than not. Its reputation comes from a, Chantry indoctrination, and b, the fact that it's typically used by weak mages as a shortcut to increase their power (thus exposing them to demons too powerful for them to resist). But Merrill is both skilled enough as a mage and psychologically protected by virtue of being Dalish to resist possession.

You just called my Hawke fat! You son-of-a-****! I will kill you!

...After I finish my chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, of course.

Well, he is apparently well over 6 feet tall and built like an Arishok, with the ability to drag an oversized claymore through four enemies at once.

...Then again, so can Fenris. Guess we'll drop the logic now @_@

You don't have a problem with those delicate little wrists being slashed open every time the Roof Brigade gets together? Posted Image

I do an Adam Savage and pretend she's doing something else. I was talking about the philosophical debate over blood magic. I don't actually want my girlfriend to be a cutter (I only need that trap sprung once, thanks).

Again, pull an Adam Savage.

Meh. I want her to succeed in what's important to her, so my substituted reality is a Hawke grinning at Merrill as she awkwardly tries to use the blood leaking out of his daily painz to fix up her mirror.

Hawke, with a smile that makes Carver look suave: You know, I got stabbed pretty good in the back, too, if you need a little more.

Merrill: HAWKE! No, I'm not doing this any more, we're going to see Anders!

Hawke: Mhm, right. Ah, and that knife under the floorboard? Yeah, I took that one too... Posted Image

Merrill: Posted Image

It's being a douche in the very best way ;)

No, I nabbed that one. I also removed that pointing-looking grate near her fireplace and replaced it with a non-pointy one. And the one hidden in the ceiling? Got that too.

Merrill, my Hawke's a reaver. Just use his blood when I use Sacrifical Frenzy.

Sneaky. Keep in mind, though, it's still Merrill. She'll probably trip and cut herself on the bedpost.

Generally, my Hawke would have replaced every sharp and/or particularly hard object in her home with a less-so version. And if they don't get any less dangerous, well... Replace them with a plush Feathers Posted Image

Ah, Imagination, my dear. If only I had the will to apply you.

Edit: Reaver Hawke would fit in so very perfectly in this evil-sweet plot. Of course, given how Hawke fights with a two-handed sword, I'm pretty sure mine's never learned what "parry" means. So plenty of blood to go around! Posted Image

Yeah, my rogue Hawke likes not getting stabbed more than getting stabbed. I'm picky like that.

Hawke: Hey, do you need blood? There's a lot on my armor...
Merrill: WHAT! Were you hurt?
Hawke: No, it's not mine. It's...some guy's. I don't know. Do you want it or not?

That's my Canon-Hawke's reasoning. "How can I blame her of using blood magic, when I basically use it myself?"

And since he knows little-to-nothing about the mirror, he trusts Merrill that she knows what she's doing.
He also threatened to remove Fenris' balls if he was ever mean to her again.

I like your Reaver-Hawke. So similar to Fenris, and so pleasantly appropriate towards him.

I just know that if any big bad demonz come out of that mirror, I'll be drippin' right in front of it with a bunch of Merrill's "secret" knives in my pocket ;D

"I sense your power, your longin---"

Thanks, I like him too! :D

But, seriously, I like Fenris. He was the second LI i ever did and I find his viewpoints interesting. But he now knows better than to yell at Merrill. Plus, I don't agree with the whole "demons forcing you to do something is worse than doing it of your own free will" argument.
It is pretty convienent how Hawke has that knife whenever he needs it, doesn't he?

Well, you can imagine how many he's confiscating off of Merrill in a day. Probably has a dozen on him at any given moment Posted Image

...Actually, she'd probably end up (regrettingly) beating the shiznizzle out of him for it eventually. Ah, the trials of being Overprotective!Hawke

...Because of this site, when you mentioned "sex", I had an unfortunate flash of FemHawke x Isabela x Merrill, Merrill x Fenris, Merrill x Isabela, Merrill x Dalish Warden and Merrill x Marethari before my mind finally settled on the sweet bliss of Merrill x Hawke.

I... did not need to imagine all that. Ok, the first one made my nose bleed, but the rest... *shudder*:crying:
Mahariel is like a brother/sister to you Merrill! LIKE A BROTHER/SISTER!

Or that's how I'm gonna play it out. Mahariel, the big protective older brother/sister. Yeah...:wizard:

Good, I'm not alone. Being completely honest, those are all concepts I commonly find on here. In fact, there was a new Isabela x Merrill thread made a few days ago. First time I've felt a migraine in over two years.

Whew. Take a breath. Don't let the horndogs ruin all that's good, pure & Welsh in the world. It's all baby gryphons, flowers & balls of string from here Posted Image

I wonder if Merrill gets any dialouge in the new DLC like she did in Legacy?

Still at least something new is coming.

I still love this one: SITH LORD MERRILL!
