Who also steals children in the night, dragging them... Oh? Not Flemeth? Sorry.

Then, yeah, Marethari is a hypocritical abomination. Like, the second one we meet in game. *looks at Anders*<_<

She still needs Hawke to come with her for moral support when she's asking for the Arulin'holm, though.

Sure at first she's nervous, but when Hawke says that he's there for her she becomes confident and takes over. Hawke is sort of just..... there. Once the Varterral is dead, she starts to get really pissed off at Marethari, the woman who would later become a hypocritical abomination.

EDIT: I actually think Merrill should've gotten really pissed off at Marethari for breaking their deal. The deal was for Merrill to receive the Arulin'holm, not Hawke.

Plus the clan. Y'know, their Keeper struts over and gives one of their oh-so-many ancient artifacts to some dirty, potentially *BEARDED* Shemlen from that city known for Elvish slaves.

Angry Irish Elves, anyone?

On the "surprisingly bitter things I never expected her to say" front, I was kind of surprised by Merrill's line to Master Ilen about "roses and rainbows." She's actually pretty snarky.

In her place, I'd be pretty pissed off at the clan too.  Hell, my Hawke wasn't in her place and he didn't have any great love for them himself.  Every time they spoke that way to Merrill it was akin to watching someone kicking a puppy.

Yep, my only qualms about killing the clan is that it hits Merrill so hard. If she just got angry about them attacking and forcing such a thing, it'd be a no brainer.

I don't kill the clan just because of Merrill.  If it weren't for her, I'd be ambivalent about that choice.

It is not really a choice for me. My Hawke tries to tell them that the Keeper was an abormination. They attack her and Merrill, not the other way around. It is actually self defense since my Hawke might be a mage but she ins't physic and can't forsee the future. Hawke didn't choose the 'shove it option' in my games, she tried to explain it. Hawke doesn't have my meta knowlegde after all.

you should've heard what she said to Hahren Paivel in Act 1. Just have her stand near him for a little bit.

Haha, whoa, I just did that today for the first time. Damn, that is one bitter little snit they both have there. :o

I largely don't kill Merrill's clan due to that, yes. Also because, well...

Stop punching me, Arianne! I saved your son, twice! Stop! Punching! Me! Can I zone out? I can't zone out. I'm trapped here. Please stop punching me.

Alright internet heroes, I need your help.

I'm looking for a nice, high-quality widescreen wallpaper of Merrill. My internet jiu-jitsu has failed me, so I must call reinforcements.

Yeah, she should have been...Marethari went back on the deal.  If she didn't want Merrill to have the thing, she shouldn't have made the deal in the first place...oh wait, she needed some suckers to kill the varterral XD

Hawke doesn't have meta knowledge.  I guess it depends on Hawke, though...if your Hawke is really good at reading people/situations s/he might realize that the only way to diffuse the situation is by appeasing Fenarel and the others with laying the blame at Merrill's feet, even if Hawke doesn't actually blame Merrill.

My fave reply in that situation is the middle one (the one that practically equates to 'bring it on' ) but I don't select it as it doesn't fit my Hawke.

Merrill's also there to ask Marethari for something she's 100% sure she won't give her and likely thinks having Hawke there as an advocate of sorts will help support her case.

Also, she might have known Marethari would make her do something crazy in order to obtain the alrun'holm...like, kill a varterral.

Ooh, that's a good one. Thanks!

I'm surprised there aren't more, especially considering what appears to be the confluence of Merrill and Tali fans. There appear to be five Tali wallpapers for every computer on Earth.

I have a bunch of screen shots of Merrill that could be used...I'm not sure what size you are looking for.

I think it's just that, lets face it, Mass Effect is more popular then Dragon Age, and DA2 wasn't that popular. Which is why Merrill never got as popular as Tali.

Which is funny b/c I've always liked the DA universe/lore more than Mass Effect and I like DA2 more than DA:O.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!?

Funnily enough that was never meant to be a wallpaper, which is why it's rather empty. Not that I mind that people use it as such though, glad you like it.

And bleetman, if you can't post them here, you MUST share them elsewhere... you know, like that time I showed you some naughty artwork.

you have to admire how Marethari thinks. She didn't want Merrill messing around with a demon that was trapped in a statue for centuries and would continue to be trapped unless someone freed it, but she had absolutely no qualms about sending Merrill to fight a Varterral that went ape**** all over 3 of their hunters.

And by admire, I mean call her an idiot.

Hawke doesn't have meta knowledge.  I guess it depends on Hawke, though...if your Hawke is really good at reading people/situations s/he might realize that the only way to diffuse the situation is by appeasing Fenarel and the others with laying the blame at Merrill's feet, even if Hawke doesn't actually blame Merrill

That's how I roleplay my Hawkes.

Hmmm...

Or sending her off alone with some random heavily armed human that showed up at camp.
