OMG! I just had to post this Bella/Merrill banter from MotA:
Aw, I never got that when I used them. I like it.
The Anders/Merrill dialog right after that is priceless.
RE: banters...I wish there was a button you could press to just trigger them instead of running around the map hoping you get to hear all of them. That would be the best 'awesome button' ever.

I'd go for that.jlb524 wrote...

Yep, maybe click on a character and get the 3 character choices to choose to trigger banter. The hardcore role player would also like something like that because I know they don't like Hawke participating in banter without them getting to choose what Hawke says.

Hm, i must admit i like the sense of initiative from the characters when they talk to one another instead of Hawke forcing it, perhaps I'm just a sucker for the random element.
The player would be forcing it in this case, not Hawke.
I just hate hate hate hate missing banter when I play and it seems as if the way it's programmed now that it's impossible to hear all possible banter on one play through, at least with the recent DLC. It seemed easier in the main game to hear it all...I just kept switching up the party and ran around Kirkwall until they stopped talking. Yes, I have no life
Like I said, I ran around forever in the forest area of MotA (well, not quite 'forever') and never heard that one Merrill/Isabela banter.

Oh, not disagreeing, perhaps more than one banter spot on the large maps like lowtown and hightown would have helped here instead.jlb524 wrote...

In Legacy i could just switch party in the deep and go through the door way right after aquiring the Key to get all the Legacy banter.
I was a little sad there wasn't nearly enough banter spots in MotA too, and would have loved to have Merrill and Bethany in the mingle section. Would have loved to see Bethany/Leliana reunion.

M:"I like caves."
H: "No, you don't, Merrill."
M: "Oh, that's right, because of the spiders and skeletons and other things. What do I like then? Ruins?"
I lol'd heartily.

Just found out that Merrill has a small little dialogue after you escape from the prison, it goes something like:
M:"I like caves."
H: "No, you don't, Merrill."
M: "Oh, that's right, because of the spiders and skeletons and other things. What do I like then? Ruins?"
I lol'd heartily.
Merrill: "Hawke is nice to everybody! Well, not bandits and skeletons and things. But everyone else!"
Eve's voice acting was awesome in this DLC.

I'm not sure there was a time in the game where her voice wasn't fantastic. She was just that good.

She's either really happy to see Hawke or relieved she doesn't have to be alone with Carver anymore...I can't tell.
Both, coupled with maybe a few fantasies of them both shanking Carver later on.

What dialogue does Merrill say in the story that you liked?
She just had more little banter parts with Hawke as the DLC progressed.
Is there any insight into their lives from the dialogue? Does anyone comment on the Champion having a relationship with a Dalish mage?

Is there any dialogue between Merrill and Tallis? I'm curious, since Merrill is Dalish, and Tallis is also an elf (possibly Viddathari).
There was only one banter between them and it wasn't about being elven, unfortunately.
There's more stuff if you flirt with Tallis (if you are romancing Merrill), but not that much.
What does Merrill say if Hawke flirts with Tallis in front of her? I'd imagine she'd take issue with Hawke trying to cheat on her. And I remember Isabela warning Hawke that she would cut off his [spoiler] if he hurt Merrill when my apostate spoke to Isabela at the Hanged Man (in Act II).

Merrill: Do you think wyverns are hard to take care of?
Carver: I'm sure my sister could manage it, if you got her one.
Hawke: I could not!
Merrill: Well of course you could.
Merrill: Where would you take it for walks? What if it got hungry and ate the neighbors?
Carver: (chuckles) Enjoy your new pet.
Hawke: She'll find one, too. Thanks for that.

Not really. Merrill asks Hawke to plant a garden at the estate because the neighbor's dog keeps chasing her out of their garden.

With the first flirt, Merrill just jumps in and mentions that Tallis is pretty.
Merrill doesn't seem to get very jealous.
At the end, Tallis tells Merrill that she's jealous of her and Merrill replies, "Oh, don't be jealous! Okay, maybe you should be a little jealous." It seems more like, Tallis back off than Merrill chases her away.
From what I've heard, Isabela (in a romance with Hawke) gets more jealous/possessive of Hawke flirting with Tallis.
