If you're talking about this, I think that was more of taking advantage of someone being stupid. Not something to prove otherwise.

If she was *aware*. If that mirror actually became a portal to the demon I'm not sure she would've known until it was far too late.

In a way she was aware since a demon can't turn it on. And we don't know specifically what lore and research on the Eluvians she did study. Gaider confirmed she studied and extrapolated from what lore and research. One could assume that she found some rare scrap of information written by the Elves of Old saying the Eluvian links beyond the Beyond -- ha that sounds funny -- and would thus not serve as a gateway for a demon to escape. Which doesn't mean she knows it's a portal. Just that it doesn't link to the Fade.

Especially one who is trapped in a statue and are sundered from the Fade for eternity unless someone frees them with a spell. And Merrill neither has the intention of doing so nor do we know if she knows the specific spell needed to free him.

One thing we know is that demons are very territorial and do not like sharing or being nice to one another. I doubt Audacity would want to help his kin and hope that they would be grateful enough to free him too.

But the Eluvians don't link to the Fade so it doesn't matter. Demons are territorial and don't like sharing is really how I wanted to end this section.

Ryzaki wrote...

And when does Anders say it isn't tainted? (or something like that. I accidentally deleted it.)

Take him to be with you in Act 2 when you begin Mirror Image. He is literally 3 footsteps away from the Eluvian and makes no mention of the taint being within the mirror when he has been a Warden for 4 years now and could sense Bethany/Carver having the taint when he was a Warden for only 1 year and was again only a few footsteps away.

Right when she doesn't even know what the mirror does other than "communication". Excuse me if I take that with a grain of salt.

That's in Act 2. Again, she studied from sources that weren't from demons, so it's possible that she found out that it doesn't link to the Fade after that when she continued her research.

She does say at A New Path's beginning that she's used up every other source of hers and can't do anymore unless she converses -- which is just talking. Not freeing or allowing to possess her or anything like that -- with the demon who was around when the Eluvians were a fresh piece of Elven history.

There's a little known alternate ending to DA2, where Merrill scolds Orsino and Meredith, and they both run away with their tails between their legs.

"I'm very, very cross with you both! Now apologize to Hawke! And buy her some flowers!"

I always imagined that Merrill brings Hawke flowers every time she visits/comes home.  Though, more than likely they are stolen.  But hey, it's the  thought that counts!

Also, nice job with the pic, ydar!

Flowers are made by nature, not man. Plucking 'em ain't stealing. Posted Image

Presumably, Merrill negotiates a backroom deal with Merrill and Orsino in that alternate deleted ending to ensure regular flower deliveries for Hawke; going around yanking them from everywhere _is_ a lot of work...

It is but that's how Merrill show's Hawke she loves her!

Love keeps the angry guard dogs away.

You have a point. Kinda like a sexy flower-thieving ninja. :)

All stealthy and sticking to the shadows, with fast elven fingers for ...plucking...

Perhaps Merrill can ask for them to be footrub servants. For them both.

I imagine not having shoes would mean a lot of podiatric care...

Oh yes...though she seems to get by...it must take skill.

Hawke tried to walk around Kirkwall without shoes once...it was a disaster...

She doesn't know how to walk right.

Maybe elves are like cats: have special pads and walk around everywhere on the balls of their feet?

What better to make their flower thievery work so well? IIRC, she only got caught that once...

She kind of reminds me of Tali, if Tali were more awkward and idiosyncratic.

Tali's too much of an extrovert. And when have we seen any interest of Tali towards flowers and giving them to Shepard? Totes different.
