It seems like the good people of Thedas don't care about a person's sexual orientation. Good for them.

That totally seems like a Merrill-type observation. I've noticed that she sees the positive side of everything. Even if she has to think hard, she will find a reason why something is good.

The people of Thedas believe: magic is a curse, Qunari are heretics, elves belong in an alienage, the Maker has turned his back on humanity and in questionable politics. But, at least they don't mind homosexuals. lol.

Well, look on the bright side; at least you don't have to campaign for gay rights in Thedas, since they already have equal rights automatically. Now we can concentrate on campaigning for mage rights.

Well, these are very personal issues that she openly talks about in normal conversation. Isabela loves sex and sex loves Isabela. I don't think that she does so compulsively. I don't think she does it b/c she's trying to fill some void. It's just a part of the crazy life she lives.

Also, it seems like Isabela is the only character in game that is recognized for having had a relationship w/ another woman. I find it disappointing that none of the other characters react to LadyHawke's relationship w/ Merrill or any other female NPC that the player romanced as LadyHawke.

Really? That's waaaaay too easy for Isabela.

But yeah, in DA, People could care less if your gay/striaght/bi.
But inter-racial (literally races, not skin-color) seems to be a BIG NO-NO. I think. Maybe not. Could just be me.

Yeah, methinks interracial is a sore point, for no particular reason I can find. Probably because everybody's rampantly racist towards each other. Even the dwarf-human relations smack of it, though they're overshadowed by elves VS every other race ever.

Well, Qunari do try to convert everyone they don't kill, mages tend to go bonkers at the drop of a hat in the DA games, and the Maker is pretty much the only supernatural character we don't see running around in Thedas, so gays living their lives happily are the least of their worries.

Hawke's an established noble by that point, and Merrill's a nobody elf from the lowtown alienage. That's where all the "zomg scandal" stuff comes from.

Doesn't help that she keeps picking flowers from their gardens, I suppose.

@DoNotIngest

Then again, you have to consider that just 60 years ago, interracial for our world was seen as an abomination to the general public. So, I'm not that surprised DA peeps in-game wouldn't like it, considering it's still middle-ages for them.

And the smile Hawke makes when Merrill makes that quote is so perfect. It's like, "**** yeah, I'd do that. I'd bring you a griffon to live with me."
...
WHERE IS MERRILL'S GRIFFON, BIOWARE?!

Where do you think she got the blood to perform the blood magic ritual that "purified" her shard?

Methinks Knight of Dane is just trying to justify his fetish for the Broodmother.

As Merrill would say...

Of course not. She's made for bigger and greater things than manual labor in a drafty shack in the North Pole. She also isn't the typical els that Santa employs.

I don't think they even have labels for it, such as 'homosexual' or 'heterosexual'...these labels are a pretty recent thing for us even.

So Hawke isn't a 'lesbian' but just 'a woman who exclusively dates other women'.

Nobles are expected to marry other nobles and have kids, so people of Thedas would find it odd that Hawke is shacking up with a elven woman.  However, they would find it just as odd for her to shack up with any of the other LIs, minus Sebastian I suppose since he's royalty.  They aren't going to burn down the estate because they view homosexual behavior as an 'evil abomination against nature and all that is holy' but they'll just view it as another odd thing that Hawke does in a long list of odd things that Hawke does.

In Origins, "poetess" is occasionally used to mean lesbian

I don't remember that...so it's an Oghren thing?

I honestly rarely talked to the guy.

Edit:  I do remember him talking about Branka...something like, "I didn't know she was into the ladies.  I could have adjusted to that."
