How will they activate it?

Unless they are lucky to find an already active one (like Tamlen and Mahariel...though they weren't so lucky)

And why are they even looking for one? I'm just curious how you would write this if you were writing this XD

Why does it have to be an Eluvian?<_<

lol.

well let's see. Were I writing this as a fanfic, it would obviously be for my personal canon.

But to answer both points, Hawke, Merrill, and the rest of the companions could maybe come across Ariane's clan on their way to Halamshiral, where Ariane is wed to Finn. While the clan initially disapproves of the marriage, Finn's knowledge of ancient Elven culture and his ability to translate Elven words allows them to warm up to him.

Merrill and Tobias Hawke could maybe seek asylum amongst the clan for a brief respite, and say that they need a way to escape whoever's hounding them.

Ariane and Finn happen to chime in saying they know the perfect way, and then give Hawke and Merrill a copy of Morrigan's notes as well as telling them everything they saw about Morrigan's Eluvian.

When they enter Halamshiral, they could interact with all of the Dalish Elves there. Merrill could maybe interact with some of the Elves before seeing some of the Elves from her clan. Elves that we never saw and that ran away from the clan around Act III, and she would run off into the distance with tears in her eyes. Hawke would then see Fenarel, Ineria, Ilen, and Paivel in my fanfic moving towards and they'd talk about Merrill briefly before Hawke left to go find her.

I won't spoil what they're saying about Merrill though, as that's crucial to my DAII fanfic that I'm writing. Suffice to say Hawke said some powerfully moving things to the clan that made them think long and hard.

Hawke would eventually find Merrill sitting at the top of a tree and try to get her to come down, saying everything's alright. Merrill however still feels guilt ridden about everything, to which he tells her that she shouldn't. Nothing that happened there was her fault.

It would take a while, but she'd eventually climb down, though she'd pause for a moment. She'd see something off into the distance. She'd then climb down even faster and upon reaching the ground, she would first hug Hawke and tell him that she's lucky to have him in her life.

Hawke would then look into her emerald eyes and say he's the lucky one. Cheesy? Perhaps, but the sentiment is still nice. Then he'd see something in her eyes.

"Merrill, I know that look. You saw something up there didn't you?"

She'd hesitate, but she'd stare directly into Hawke's face and say that she saw a cave of sorts. Something she hasn't seen before, and she's always spent time in the forest when she was here.

"It's... it's as if the forest wanted me to see this. As if it wanted you to be with me when I see this."

"Say no more, Merrill. I'll get Varric and everyone. We'll check it out."

After a while, Hawke and everyone would meet up with Merrill. They'd explore the cave, fighting off what threats lay inside and would find it filled to the brim with ancient Elven artifacts, tomes, sarcophagi, etc. At the end of it all lies the Eluvian of the Dales. Unbroken, functional, and non-tainted.

Merrill would walk up to it, and it would respond to her blood. It would glow, but not necessarily a glow that says "Walk through me!". It's just responding. Merrill would then cast a spell on it to find it glow even brighter.

It would be here that Morrigan, Xanthos Aeducan, and the OGB Kratos walk through the Eluvian. Xanthos, in a sense, has already met Tobias (which you can see in one of the later chapters of my DAO fanfic). Morrigan would then talk to Hawke saying that he's sewn the seeds of change in the world, and it remains unseen how the world will respond to this change. Will they fight it only to let it destroy everything? Or will they accept it and let it liberate them?

"You're just as cryptic as that old woman."

Varric would laugh and Morrigan would respond accordingly, knowing full well who he was talking about. Varric, Isabela, and Anders would then remark upon knowing who Xanthos is.

"Varric, who is he?"

"Hawke are you kidding? He's the second son of Endrin Aeducan, former king of Orzammar. The man that was framed for a crime he didn't commit and cast off into the Deep Roads to die only to be saved by the Wardens. The one who would lead the fight against the Blight after Ostagar and return home to take his rightful place in the Memories and on the throne."

Anyway, Morrigan would say that Hawke has a choice. He can continue to run away from his pursuers, or he and his bride can elude them by stepping through the Eluvian.

And... well... he'd go through with Merrill.

===============================================

I don't know, that's just a rough idea of what I'd write. With a few days devoted to this idea, I could probably make it better.

Now one might think that I'm ignoring what Varric said in the endgame. But I'm not. I'm taking creative liberties Posted Image. He said he doesn't know where the Champion currently is. This would still be true. He doesn't know where the Eluvian led to.

Ah, that's pretty good.  My headcanon imaginings are typically more depressing...like, Hawke disappears (Flemeth's machinations b/c Flemeth is the cause of all problems) and Merrill is left alone and has to move on, etc. and I try to imagine what she'd do afterwards.  I think she'd miss Hawke something fierce but would still do her own thing and still try to help her own people.  I had one idea where she would even take on a male elven lover and have a child and I tried to imagine what it would be like if Hawke came back from wherever she was being brutally man-handled by Flemeth and ...yeah...loads of drama XD

But I like some difficulty and drama for some reason.  Even though that sounds like a bad soap opera...but I watched that crap when I was younger.

Or the description of the look of sadness on her face.

That would be hilarious to see.

But I like some difficulty and drama for some reason.

Difficulty and drama is always good. I like it too, though in moderation. Excessive drama kind of starts to mess up stories methinks.

Also, all this talk of writing I've done today has made me do some more work on my next chapter of my DAO fanfic. I think I still have to finish and upload Chapter 12, where Damaeus and Amalia Cousland, Duncan, their two Mabari hounds Cormag and Jill, and Iona are riding off to Denerim where Duncan plans to visit the Alienage to find some Elven recruits.

Though they're being pursued by Arl Howe's men along the way.

I'll probably upload that chapter at some point tomorrow, as I'm going to head to bed now. Good night fellow Merrillites!

Why would they need another eluvian? The one Morrigan used in the Dragonbone Wastes would just need to be reactivated, no? Plus the eluvians might not all link up to the same place.

If the mirror can survive amongst all those dragons and The Mother and all her children I'm sure it'd still be there. How one activates it though... well Morrigan found out, I'm sure some Dalish, maybe even Merrill could do it. I also agree that an eluvian would be somewhere in Tevinter.

I got the impression that once she used it, it would no longer be active.

Yeah, you'd have to find a way to activate it again with whatever spell Morrigan knew...we don't know if she got it from the Dalish book or Flemeth.

Since I think Flemeth let her 'find' it (b/c Flemeth wanted her to use it b/c she's all tricky like that) I think it came from one of Flemeth's grimoire's or somehting Flemeth taught her.

I think Morrigan is just a puppet in Flemeth's ultimate plans, but that's just me :D

Hmmm come to think of it Morrigan did say that they wouldn't be able to follow, which could go in with them all linking to different places. They really woundn't be able to follow if that was the case. On the other hand, what would be the point of the elves making all these one time use Mirrors? Unless they can be reactiavated so you can return you'd be stuck on the other side. Although we don't know if returning is possible.

Hey everyone!!

Please allow me to start off by saying that I am a huge supporter of Merrill, and to this day I have yet to romance anyone else in DA2.B)

Anyway, I wanted to share something I recently wrote with you all! It is a collection of party banter that I think could have occurred if Merrill had been a companion in Origins. I would love for you guys to read it, especially with you all being Merrill supporters!

I plan on writing more for Merrill and for other DA2 characters if they had been in Origins. Please share your feedback, and I hope some of them will give you all a good laugh.

Hello!

I enjoyed it.  The Alistair banter was my fave.

I'm curious about the Merrill/Leliana or Merrill/Morrigan banter though XD

Or even better...with Shale.

I'm glad you guys like it! I was actually saving those three for part 2. This was something I wrote spur of the moment, and I ran out of brain creativity hahah. And those three characters really deserve to have great dialogue with Merrill. So the next one I write will be all about those three. And some more with other characters if some good ones come to mind!

Thanks for reading! I really appreciate it!

Morrigan said it was difficult for her to get the one in the Dragonbone Wastes working again and that it would only work one more time IIRC.

So for the Warden it was a "Now or never" type of thing.

Also, I took her "You won't be able to find me" or whatever she said as her saying that no matter how hard the Warden tried, he wouldn't be able to find her because she'd no longer be in Thedas.

Right, she broke the fourth wall and is apparently living in the apartment next to mine.

Not really, she's actually in Narnia.

just a weird question, but Merrill seems quite open about her Feelings for Hawke, especially if you go the Friendship route. Do you think Merrill and Izzy talk about Merrill and Hawke's "Bedtime" activities?

i think so, if only so Merrill can have some "moves" between the sheets.

Well, yes...especially if Hawke happens to sleep with Isabela first.
