So take Aveline, and sit around sunbathing and building sand castles whilst she fends them off. Problem solved.

They should vacation at some snow-capped mountain resort. Bring back the gooey red fireworks of pre-patch combat. The visuals should be glorious.

@ bleetman -- Thank you. I now have an image of Aveline in a bikini stuck in my head.

Did not Hawke find a demonic tome the last time she went to the beach? I am sure Flemeth planned the whole thing.

After she loses her obsession with the mirror, she'd be a good parent

I figure if I mention it enough, eventually someone will draw it and I'll have a new desktop wallpaper.

Speaking of which, Aveline in a bikini, guys.

I have no idea. I Googled "Dragon Age 2 beach" and this was the only image I got that even came close to what we were talking about.

Merrill and Garrett at the beach.

Can anyone tell me how to display images off of Deviantart, not just link to them?

Knowing Merrill...if she ever learned that song, she would be cooing to Scuttle and then learning from Sebastian how the song goes.

Question: What is everyone's opinion on how the visual representation of Elven culture is handled? Recently I created a thread about it, and I want to know where you guys stand as well.

Personally, I feel that it is severely lacking, due to the Elves not showing any signs of reflecting on the four cultures they're supposed to be an amalgam of (Jewish people, Gypsies, Celtic tribes, Native American tribes).

In DA2 we saw a single clan and a single alienage, also some elven servants in Orlais from the MOTA DLC. In DAO we're exposed to villager elves, alienage elves, refugee elves, and two different Dalish Clans. Mind you in DA2 they're Free Marchers and Origins they're Ferelden, so we've only seen two different regions. I'm sure City Elves in Lloymeren function differently than those in Orlais or Ferelden.

I think you focus too much on the whole Jewish/Gypsy/Celtic/Native American thing. I don't really want to see them wearing Stars of David and Sioux head dresses.

The dalish could do with having their own clothing, particularly for their Firsts. And it would be nice if they settled on a look for the Aravels, rather than totally changing them between games.

For city elves, being basically poor people of the host culture with a big tree and a few left over bits of elvish mixed in to the language makes sense.

Well, the Alienage is just an ally in Kirkwall, in Denerim it was an entire section off itself.

We only ever really got to talk to Marethari and Merrill in the Dalish camp, and perhaps master Ilen a bit; in Origins we got all sorts of side quests from the other clansmen, and they weren't so god damn unfriendly, well at least not as much.

Not to mention we really need a elven Ruin, there mus have been some near Kirkwall if they were living all the way down in south-western Ferelden,

Elven DLC!

This is just my opinion, but I'd say the amount we saw was, per se, not more nor less that what we saw in DAO, it's just that they both show roughly the same things: in DAO it was all new and their entire culture needed an introduction, in DA2 we are showed the same stuff more or less (a few new things are mentioned in passing, such as the Somniari arts, etc...), but most DAO players will simply go "oh, yes, I knew that"...
Since little new knowledge is gained it may appear as if nothing was showed...

However, one thing I noticed was explored in several instances is the peculiar relationship between city elves and the Qun: considering what little we saw about the Qun, having basically an entire DLC (MoTA) to explore it and several mission depicting both pro-Qunari and anti-Qunari elves is a lot of viewpoints in proportion (though some might have been explored more)...
At least that's what I think...
