Zathrian used a powerful blood magic.  The Dalish keepers obviously have blood magic capability, even if some don't learn it or choose to use it.

Yes, so did Avernus. He managed to get his Warden-Commander possessed, and used his fellow Wardens for hideous experiments. Zathrian got half his clan killed.

Good times. Blood magic is fun for the whole family!<_<

If that is her, then this is when we meet her - since there are already 4 in the party (Hawke, Carver, Varric, Aveline).

I'm guessing he presumes that dalish are immortal or live for 400 years or something. Wasn't she about the age of the Dalish warden? Which would be roughly the same age as Hawke.

They are not immortal, but if I remember correctly from the lore, they live much longer than city elves and slowly regain their immortality by mating with each other and making their bloodline purer. Who knows, but for me it would make sense that she is not a human teenager, but an elven one, thus is somewhat older that Hawke and a team.

But it's just a talk.

I think it is just that they don't live in squalor. And elves that mate with humans get humans. The elves in the alienage are as elven as the Dalish.

The Dalish on the other hand get inbred with the "purity". (I kid)

I feel it in the gut, its HER. Its thin, tiny and has a long mage rod. The color of the clothes totally match.

Besides, this makes sense with the other screenshot, the one you've been discussing, about the useful properties of Blood Magic...

Zathrian was unusual amongst the Dalish in that he'd been alive for several centuries. However, that was due entirely to the werewolf curse.

It's her, the graphic breakup is the same. Meaning the light/dark bits are in the same areas. She's got one arm stretched out behind her where you can see her bare elbow area, and her armpit area.

Looks like we get guest party members at some points.

You just need to use the ZOOM in your image viewer. You even can make out the elf ear...

Just got a bit caught up with the IGN indication that Merril may be of the Blood Mage persuassion; although, if memory serves correct, the German article that first revealed the character made that distinction already. Still, this *possible* confirmation does hint at some very interesting ramifications for not only the personality/mindset of the character, but how her use of Blood Magic, with all it's Evils and Dangers, might be justified in her eyes.

Is she doing it simply for the well being of her people? Is she like Jowan, lured by it's promise of a quicker path to Arcane power, or is it for a more nefarious reason?

In the shot, "*possible* Merril" mentions a Spirit; if she is pulling demons from the Fade to aid her, ala Avernus, could we possibly encounter a moment in the game where she looses control with catatrophic consequences? Might Merril end up possessed? The story potential there is mind blowing. On top of that, how will playing a Mage, and one who sees the Evil in the Blood Magic path, effect a relationship with Merril? I wonder...

Did't think about Zathrian, actually, I was pointing it from some of the codex notes and overall lore perspective. I am more interested in her character than age issues anyway - making elven characters enigmatic, interesting is a tough job.

I can't see Merrill at all in that screenshot. However, I have another reason to rejoice: walking skeletons are back!
