It would kind of be a wasted opportunity if this guy isn't Anders. I mean, he looks just like him, is male, and a mage. If it's really not him, I'm thinking my reaction will go something like this:
"Hello, my name is [...]."
"...Tonight, your name is Anders."
"...?!"
):
Very creepy... But isnt anders in the circle, and running away from Templars at this time?

Is cassandra a party member???
No.... If Cassandra was a party member, would she be making Varric tell her about Hawke?
Besides.. Cassandra looks nothing like that..
if that´s the case then it sucks, Cassandra is the most interesting female in dragon age 2
Aw, cheer up. She's apparently going to have a larger role in DA3!

It was a dev comment somewhere. Maybe in that one German article? Can't remember. Treat it as a rumor.

That's just it, though. He's escaped so many times, that there's plenty of chances for him to meet up with Hawke. Awakenings probably didn't span more than what, a few weeks, months? And Gaider stated earlier that the epilogues could be tweaked.
Yeah.. But having a party member that will disappear and reappear at random times doesn't strike me as a good companion..
Hawke: Anders! I need a heal... NOW!
Anders: Sorry Hawke but I think the Templars are getting close, gotta go.. See ya!
Hawke: Damnit Wai-*gets crushed by dragon*

I just mean, between all of his adventuring and the fact that the epilogues aren't static, there's room enough in the timeline for him to be a permanent companion.

Wait though.. It doesnt seem to be a good idea that he would be a set party member.. I mean what if someone imported their Awakening save where they had Anders taken away with the Templars? It wouldnt make sense for him to be a permanent companion..

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure that he's just taken away. I don't think it's specified that he gets killed, though I may be wrong. So, that could be explained as another escape.
But isnt he in the Grey Wardens now? I know the epilogue says he traveled for a little while, but he eventually came back and stayed with the Wardens.
Hawkes story takes place over 10 years.. The only way anders would be the final companion is if he came VERY late in the game.

And it wouldn't be that late in the game, especially if the endings were changed anyway. The actual timeline for Origins and Awakening are only speculated on, as far as I know.
So, say Origins takes a year, then another 6 months for Awakening to begin, then another few months for it to end. That's not that far into Hawke's 10 years, imo.

There's only one epilogue where he stays with the Wardens for good. But like I said, Gaider mentioned in an earlier thread that the epilogues are subject to change.

But then he still leaves the party early.. If this happens he's a temporary party member at best..

But yeah, I do agree that he'd be easier to fit in as just a temporary. I still think it's possible that he's permanent, though.

I was watching the older developer diary in HD and decided to zoom in on this mysterious guy...
Do I see a ponytail to the right of his neck? Maybe I'm just wishing too hard...
*studies the zoomed in shot of "Anders"* You know, now I see what could be "Anders'" bangs (on the left side of his forehead, our right when viewing the pic) here as well as the possibility of a... ponytail? *squints* I swear it's there, or maybe I'm just wishing it was.
The more I think about it, the more I'm really starting to believe this mage really is Anders. If this is true, I, ur, I mean fem!Hawke will be a very happy mage. Also, if true, will Greg Ellis be returning to voice him? Mmm... sexy, sexy Anders... damn my attraction to snarky guys with ponytails who love kitties as much as I do.
Whoever this human male mage is, he's guaranteed himself a spot amongst fem!Hawke, Fenris and Seb. Sorry, Carver! Maybe next time.

I don't think its Orsino but perhaps just a new character in general. Definitely a mage, likely an offensive mage (with Merrill being the healer), and definitely an LI for Fem!Hawke (and hopefully MHawke too). Whoever he is we need to hear about him! : )

Now i won't proclaim it is Anders to the heavens still, but between witch hunt's constant reffrencing, his general survivibility vs writting in how he could've survived easily, all the pictures of a mage with his similarities and general popularity (not sure where you nutters count in that regard) i would put money down on it being him with room for epic disapointment if it isn't

I won't complain if he lives anyway but I don't see how surviving an arrow through his neck can be explained easily.

How many times does it have to be pointed out that the devs have said the epilogues could be changed AND, not to mention, how many major changes have we already seen? Entire races have been overhauled, changing the outcome of one particular epilogue is nothing by comparison.
