I don't want the series to end but being such a story-hound, I have no doubt I'll be irked if a ME game in the future encroaches on the history of what happens in the trilogy. More so if they just handwave their own 'story' into it. The moment they do that, kind of makes the point of sticking with the series a waste.

Ok, I have to say something to this. I have to agree with the OP to some degree. I will state why.

I love Bioware to death but I dislike their "masters" so to speak. That company is EA. EA is known to do the most low, underhanded things to make a quick buck. I guess their tactics work which is why they are so big, but that doesn't make them right. Let's look back at their track record. They make the same sports games over and over again every year making a profit. Madden in 2004 started losing sales to 2k sports and their ESPN 2k5 (because they were better games and cheaper) so what did EA do?......They bought up the NFL rights and the ESPN rights(which they barely even use) to low blow everyone and cut out the competition.

Other low tactics include buying up all the big name, great and hugely successful developers prior to their acquisition(Bioware, Pandemic, Valve, and a few others) and alo the attempted hostile takeovers of Take Two and Ubisoft(Thank god it didn't happen!). They were criticized for a long while about their low tactics. Anyways, they buy up those who put out excellent games and start to become massively popular and then they make them pump out sequel after sequel with ridiculous constraints until the developer is disassembled for putting out sub par quality games(example:Pandemic).

So anyone with any smarts can see where I am going with this. So while I would not be sad if Bioware stopped doing ME series after this game(which I highly doubt will happen) if EA let them(haha!), I certainly would be a bit worried if a new series was started for these systems. I say they should continue the series, but at the very least they should wait until after the next generation of computer hardware and consoles come out. That way they have plenty of time and new resources to work with. But come on......Let's be real.

As far as shaping the galaxy post-ME3, I would prefer not to have a game that follows chronologically after the events of ME3. It can be done, but there are too many variables at this time that I can foresee that would effect a game post-ME3.

Do I want the ME franchise to continue? Hell yes. I would love to play a game as say a prothean, or as the species that started the reapers, or any number of crazy plotlines. For example, playing as the species that shot the derelict reaper, knowing that that will be the end would be interesting.

A multiplayer platform would be nifty, but only post-ME3 production. A co-op game, RTS, etc. I would prefer not an MMO, simply because I do not have the money or time to dedicate to it.

I don't know, playing a new character a hundred years after ME3, and having your actions and decisions shape that time period, and basically becoming the history of that time, would definitely be intriguing.

My thoughts exactly.

I think they could continue on after ME3. Maybe a story about the universe recovering from the events of ME3 (not that I know all the events yet).

I would like some continuation to the series after ME3, but I can't think of anything that would be up to par with Shepard's story.

I'd personally prefer that Mass Effect ended after ME3, but I know thats not gonna happen.

If they do decide to continue making games in the Mass Effect universe, the storylines should take place WAY after or before the events regarding Shepard. And they shouldn't keep calling the games 'Mass Effect' anymore, b/c they wouldn't be about Shepard and his decisions, and they might not even be rpg's. In other words, Bioware can keep using the mass effect world, but should keep the new games distanced from the originals, just in case things go south (wouldn't wanna tarnish the originals, now would we?).

Yea, after ME3, I really dont want to see another Shepard Mass Effect, or anything closely related to that. It would just feel tacked on. Now, if they do a game/series in a completely different time period than Mass Effect then I wouldnt have any problems with that.

I think it would have to be in the future though (reapers and all). I actually wouldnt mind a cameo or two, so long as its someone like Liara, and she be like 800 years old.

Might be pretty interesting actually if you could import your decisions into that new Mass Effect game and see how your choies as Shepard altered the Universe so far into the future. Since its so far into the future, I could imagine that only one or two would be significant - your decision at the end of ME2, for example - so having those 1 or 2 decisions be significantly galaxy altering(that just sounds cool) probably wouldnt be too taxing on the developers.

Yea, so as I was writing this, I want another Mass effect set far off in the future where I can see how my choices as Shepard altered and changed the galaxy - and I want those 1 or 2 big decisions to big hugely galaxy altering - which, i guess, means possibly 2 different stories, characters, environments, etc(If the game did that, I wouldnt mind it being a bit shorter).

Moar ME. 4.5.6...X.Y.Z. I don't care.

The universe is vast. Much more stories to be told. Experienced.

Yes I hope 3 is the end all of the ME universe because otherwise it turns into Star Wars, Final Fantasy, and the various Star Gate spin offs a never ending cycle and destroying a once great piece of work by over saturating the market with its existence.

I don't know. I think a Mass Effect MMO would be interesting.

NO, GOD NO, PLEASE NO. I'd rather have a multiplayer-focused ME over an MMO.

Not a fan of MMO's? Just throwing the idea out there. I think the rich backstory of Mass Effect along with the possibilities for many stories would make a great MMO. I didn't think so many people were against it so I guess the idea is a lost cause.

Mass Effect WOULD make a good MMO, but even then I don't want an MMO. I know people would be against it, but I wouldn't mind a multiplayer-focused FPS.

I want to see a stealth action Spectre game staring an Asari and a Turian. You get your biotic abilities and you get your badass Turian.

I will never understand the "I hope they dont make more games" BS

Why do you care? Would it somehow ruin your enjoyment of ME1 2 and 3? You dont have to play it, therefore whats the point of desiring nothing else comes? How does it affect your life in any way?

Definitely think that the impending games in the future (as a poster above said, this is EA after all) should be wayyy after Shepard's story, but your choices in ME should not affect these games. If all the ME3 endings have civilization surviving, we should be good on that front, but there is the chance that the Reapers do succeed in their reaping endeavors, which means that another game would either be in the past, or so far in the future that the whole universe will be unrecognizable

Agreed. Sequels are overrated. Milking a franchise to death is overrated. If we just get the Mass Effect trilogy, we're guaranteed no one will dilute its quality. Look at what happened to the Aliens series, look how Blade Runner being an only movie still makes the universe untouchable. I don't want to ignore parts of a franchise. If there's no sequels, at least my imagination can run to cover holes, but if a crap sequel is indeed made, I can't. I can only try to ignore it and think dreamily about the greatness as a whole that it could've kept.

I like the ideas they have done already.

Mass Effect 1 - 2 - 3...Will be the end of Shep's Story

But a second trilogy lined up...for a new story..

The Reaper story can end, but ditching Mass Effect as a setting would be really, really dumb. The lore is too fleshed out and would be a waste.

Totally agree.  Bioware, specifically their writers, have put an amazing amount of effort into creating one of the richest and most popular sci-fi IP's of all time.  To just let it collect dust would be a crime.

I think that Mass Effect 1,2, and 3 characters should be left alone and if they are in a game is for making a cameo. The galaxy is too rich... though I'm not sayign they should have 50 games in the Mass Effect Universe

I'd like the series to end with ME3. Unfortunately, it's probably going to suffer from either Metroid Syndrome (prequel overdose that does nothing for the series as a whole), or, even worse, halo syndrome (overdose of pointless spinoffs that suck so hard.)

Naive to think Bioware will end it after 3. If sales figures permit it, there will be more Mass Effect titles. Look at Star Wars, we thought we were done with star wars movie but then all of a sudden, clone wars come out... (unless of course there's another Star Wars movie based on the Old Republic that's directed by Bioware, I wouldn't mind :) )

The movie is most likely going to be horrible guys so don't get your hopes up, look how bad they bungled Perseus' story (clash of the titans) and look how old it is. Hollywood will most likely dumb it down so people who have never played the series know what's Going on.
