 Hello,

My saved game loads fine, I have 3 save files.  One quick save, one Autosave and finally a Full Save (named by me).

When I load either of these I get into the game just fine.  But when I try and zone to docks, and docks only, the game kicks out to Main menu and states "Module file might be corrupt OR it was created using a
newer version of the toolset and/or game resources."

I can load other areas just fine.  Such as Skymirror.  I have tried every which way to move between the various zones but each time Docks load it gets me that error.

Should I reinstall the game?  Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Any chance you opened that module in the toolset and saved it?

Nope, I'm not that advanced of a user. Purely playing the game.

I tried to reinstall the game today and it still acts up. odd.

It sounds like your saved game files may be corrupted. Corruption can occur due to file fragmentation, such can be caused by constantly over-writing the same saved files, and is why it is recommended in the game that you save often and in different slots. Once corrupted, by this or other means, re-installing the game will not necessarily fix a corrupted saved game file as the saved game is what contains the module information being addressed.

Something else that can cause corruption is not having enough free disk space available on your hard drive. You need to maintain at least 15 GB of free disk space for NWN 2 (and MotB) and at least 20 GB with NWN 2 plus both expansions.

By way of explaining NWN DM's question for you... If, at some point, you happened to have opened the game module in the toolset, whether or not you actually did noting more than look around a little, that would be enough to cause corruption since, by default, the toolset auto-saves the module file every 5 minutes and those saves would be identified as a different version, even though you may not have manually saved the file.

As a test, rename your NWN 2 folder in Documents (My Documents) and start the game with a new character, play through the first conversation, save the game (manually do not use quick save), This will fully create a new NWN 2 folder in Documents. Next, copy your saved game from the original folder you re-named into the newly created folder and try that saved game and see if if that fixes the problem. If it does, it means that something in your original folder may be corrupted.

So is there any fix to this other than starting completely over? I'm having the same problem with West Harbor during Act II.

Go back to an earlier save and don't always use the same save slot going forward.

Poop. *cleverly only has one save*

There's no way someone can upload a fresh one for me to use?

If someone were playing your game, with your PC, sure.

The character info isn't stored in the sav file...

I started a new game and replaced my corrupted West Harbor with the new one. I traveled there and was back at the beginning of the game, but my characters themselves hadn't changed.

Hi

I am having the same problem , I had been pre warned about this , so had 26 saves which of was cycling , but even this didint save me . I have now tried this game probably 4 times and each time I finish the docks quests , complete the merchant quarter and when I try to go back in the docks in all goes to poo .

I am really dissapointed , I would just like to be able to complete the game , just once.

Regards .

PS I doubt I will get a response as this is an old game now , but is so frustrating .

I was also cycling through multiple saves, and also have gotten a lovely set of several corrupt saves. The quicksave is corrupted (get this fantastic four color "texture missing" graphic where the screenshot is supposed to be) and so is my most recent saved game (I've been reusing about a dozen slots; I haven't checked some of the earlier ones to see if they're corrupted too).

Sounds like there's no solution, really. And yeah, it's pretty much killed my enjoyment of the game. The thought of starting over from the beginning is not terribly appetizing. I've done that once already. :(
