What do you guys think of Hawke's accent? I hoped they'd gone with more of a neutral sounding American accent, instead of a heavy British accent (I think). I really really dislike Hawke's voice.

---------

edit: ok nevermind on Isabela's voice.

My problem is he sounds like he's walking around with a stick up his ass, it reminds me of some British (or whatever) noble, not someone like this

Er, no, it's not Claudia Black.

I don't mind the accent but the delivery could use some work. Much better than the "derp ima smash you" voice I was expecting.

And no it's definitely not Claudia Black.

Yeah it felt to me like the delivery and/or the facial expressions were a bit flat. I understand the latter is something they're still working on, but I don't know how much re-recording they tend to do.

I think giving Hawke an American accent would have been a tragic cliché,personally.
While I don't like what I've heard of M!Hawke's acting,it's nice to see an authentic English accent instead of a poorly impersonated one like in so many crappy movies I've seen. (And I myself am English,so I'm biased.) Image IPB

I don't mind- I prefer English accents. The expressions could use a bit of work however.

Hawke sounds like a guy from Ferelden, as he should.

I think the delivery is just a little sketchy because playing a part like that is really difficult. I mean, usually an actor is given a character and they know who that character is and how they want to play them or have been directed to play them. Hawke is kind of a wild card, there are so many different possible personae that character can take on. Ultimately you're not playing one character, you're playing a squillion characters with a squillion different motivations and reactions while still being the same person. That's the acting equivalent of split personality disorder. Hawke's a character that's meant to be projected on. I don't think it really says all that much about the voice actor's overall talent if the delivery sometimes seems a bit wooden. I thought the voice he did for Vaughn was amazing, it made me just despise that character, which is exactly what should have happened.

As far as the accent is concerned, I really like it. A more American accent wouldn't have made any sense given the context of the story. I mean, Hawke's from Lothering, no one in that village had an American sounding accent, IIRC.

Hah, it's not that heavy. Could be worse. Thick cockney accent is almost unintelligible.

Did anyone find a video with FemHawke's voice in it?

His accent is ok but he should sound a bit more bas-ass.

But it is an okey voice

Something weird about his voice. I really don't know how to express my feelings regarding this.

Yes, this. And with the elves having their voices redone, I don't think anyone will have a "neutral American accent" anymore... except dwarves?

I quite liked his voice...it's different to what I expected...but I don't think necessarily BAD different.

But why would it be? The Fereldens in Dragon Age: Origins all spoke in an English accent and the majority of them had English voice actors. Loghain, Anora, Alistair (despite his VA being Scottish), Flemeth... Duncan didn't, but he wasn't from Ferelden (I believe he was Rivani?), which makes me wonder why Isabela still has hers, since she's from Rivain and not Ferelden...

I don't think one's been released yet. Though at least one developer has stated that they're trying to change that.

As for Hawke's male voice, I'm rather neutral about it at this point. I need to hear more of it before I can make an informed opinion.

Still think it should've been Bramhill.

Just because I wished for it to be so does not mean I do not know that it wouldn't be. Mere Wishful thinking. Hawke's voice is exactly as I expected, nothing earthshatteringly awesome, but not terrible either.

Im not sure it suits the look all that well right now. I think it suits a MageHawke but not sure about a warriorHawke.
