Red Dead Redemption had MP and it was pretty long (20 to 30 hours?). It seems more likely that the MP will be the lack-luster part, as Bioware hasn't done much of it in the past. A series of co-op missions like those in RDR could be pretty rockin'.
I agree, though, that any MP shouldn't come at the expense of single-player. I just don't see that happening with a Bioware game, though.

Red Dead Redemption was also in development for 4 years, had a team that's been building those exact kinds of games for more than a decade, and astronomical resources at thier call, because every Rockstar game sells 10-15 million units.  It can be done, but RDR is the exception to the rule.

The entire Mass Effect trilogy probably won't sell much more than half of what a typical Rockstar open world game sells, so Bioware won't get unlimted resources, they don't have an experienced crew of multiplayer devs, and from start to finish ME 3 is already  looking to be a little short on time in the oven for games of it's genre, at probably around 22 months from start to finish. If thier putting any effort into MP, it's just hard not to be worried about it taking away from the SP.

Either Expansion/DLC for ME2 or ME3 news would be great. I'd be interested in hearing such, but not more on the PS3.

With ME3 later this year, I doubt we'll see an XPack. I bet we'll hear about DLC.

I would =love= some XPack though. :-)

As long as the XPack still allows for the freedom of save import into ME3 and the freedom allowed after the Suicide Mission.   The DA:Awakening XPack was too restrictive and while I enjoyed the story and play, it didn't allow you to revist previous locations in DA:O....such as Warden's Keep.  The XPack would be need to work in like the rest of the DLC for ME2 so you could still do other things.  Unless of course it locks your save to just before ME3, in which case you would do it last anyway.

Fingers crossed for it to be customization of squad members, ya´now a system like Shepard has, but we could change the armor and casual styles for the hole team. That glued to an awesome ME3 tie in DLC makes me drool.

I'm setting my sights pretty low: Alternative Appearance Pack 2!

Actually its pack 3. They decided to skip pack 2 as it featured all the characters everyone loved.

Pack 3 includes: 17 new outfits for ....  Jacob. That is all. No one else. Just Jacob.

Wait, I'm confused, everyone's saying that they'll start taking about the reveal on Thursday, but the tweet was exactly 1 day ago, so wouldn't it be for Wednesday?

Jesse Houston has tweeted that this Thursday he can talk about his 'big work special project'.

What do you think this is? Something about the ME2 on PS3 (he led the team that ported it)? DLC? ME3? Or something we know nothing about?

(All previous DLCs have been announced on Thursdays if memory serves me right).

Not long until we find out either way.

Wasnt it Tuesdays? I think

This. :(

The optimist says, "Anything can be done if the devs put their minds to it!" (blegh)
The pessimist says, "Multiplayer sucks, if Bioware puts it in there it will RUIN the whole franchise and they'll butcher their sales!"
The realist says, "Bioware should stick to what they do best, and fans should not expect a miracle from them."

Fair enough. There just seems to be so much ignorance in the gaming community regarding what game development actually entails.

I hate how EA frequently seems to be feature-driven as opposed to quality-driven. [caps]Every game does not need multiplayer to perform well! If you want to put multiplayer in a game, you'd better damn well make it a competitive and important feature rather than just a money-wasting tack-on.[/caps]

EA's idea that singleplayer games are dead is just insane. I mean, I'd think that good game development would mean trimming the proverbial fat off certain features. If the multiplayer is a failed feature, that effetively makes it fat that needs trimming. Nobody likes to play bad multiplayer, and nobody (as far as I know) wants ME3's singleplayer to suffer because of it.

/rant. ;)

Well said, Mister Mannly Man. I will naturally choose the realist path - Unless they happen to have twice the staff and resources I'd expect, it's hard not to be a little antsy. I'm not necessarily opposed to multiplayer, but as we've all learned from Bioware games, every choice has its price. There's also the unnerving image of 8 shepards running around bases and one of them with a bright red flag in his hand.
