Now that you are here, you are probably wondering what you can do in Neverwinter Nights 2. The best answer is whatever suits your interests as there is a lot to choose from.
Here is a rough list of the many facets of Neverwinter Nights:
PLAY! PLAY! PLAY!
No matter whether you choose single player or multiplayer, you should know how varied in style the user-created content can be, especially with regards to the PW's. Many of you come here from other games, where you liked some aspects but were left wanting something else as well. Some of you want more hack-n-slash, some want more romances. Some want to relive the Gold Box days and some want to gorge themselves on eye-candy. It's all here, in different places. Even the four official campaigns have widely different flavors to them.
SINGLE PLAYER
- Play through the Official Campaign, Mask of the Betrayer, Storm of Zehir and Mysteries of Westgate. These are all the official releases from Atari, Obsidian and Ossian Studios.

- Play through user made adventures (called Modules). Most of them can be found on the Neverwinter Vault. There you will find conversions of old and beloved Pen and Paper D&D modules like Keep on the Borderlands and more. There are also many original adventures created by members of the community.

MULTIPLAYER
- Play with others on a Persistant World. Join a uniquely crafted world and explore with other players. These are run by members of the community. The rules, the setting and the background of the setting are all devised by players like you. So every experience will be new and exciting for you.
- Play with a group of friends journeying on a campaign of your own choosing. You can even play the official campaigns together.

DUNGEON MASTER CLIENT
- Guide your friends or fellow community members through a campaign DM’d (Dungeon Master) by you. You can speak and act through monsters and common village folk as well as altering many elements of the world as your party of adventurers travels through the lands. In short, a great way to tell your own story as it unfolds.

DESIGN! CREATE! ENJOY!
CREATE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE
- Neverwinter Nights has one of the best toolsets in existence. You can create any kind of fantasy world that you like and customize it in any number of ways. With the Neverwinter Nights toolset, you can get much closer to creating your vision than you can with many other toolsets. What you create can become a Persistant World, a Multiplayer adventure or a solo adventure.

MOD (MODIFY) THE GAME
- There are numerous ways to do this. You can create systems through scripting (packhorses and merchants, pen and paper weighted coins, unique death rules etc.), make monsters, items, armor and clothing, placeables (things you can place in the area such as houses, fences, tables, rugs etc.), change the game interface, develop tools for use in the toolset to increase the range of features that the toolset has, create portraits of characters for in-game use, create stunning visual effects like explosions or gas clouds and much, much more. There is a little bit too much to add to this section so it is better to see for yourself by visiting the NWVault.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT NEVERWINTER NIGHTS 2
We are always looking for new members for the community and are willing to help them get accustomed to playing this great game. We obviously prefer getting new members who stick around. Usually, if they are willing to try at least two of the categories mentioned above, they do stick around. So we strongly encourage anyone coming here to try to dig a little deeper than the Official Campaigns to see what NWN2 is REALLY all about.
Here are some things to keep in mind:
1. If you only like to play Single Player, after you have finished the Official Campaigns, try out one of the modules (adventures) on the vault. Many of the top ones are up to Developer standards.
2. If you are willing to try Multiplayer, here are some things to keep in mind: Multiplayer was in bad shape (bugs and lack of features). when the game was released. Now (January 2011) it is in good shape. Many servers have low populations. Most people are concentrated in a few well-populated servers. If this is important to you, join one of those servers. When you have made acquaintances with people on those servers, feel free to invite them to try out some of the less populated servers as a group. You can also find a guild to join to find like-minded MP players or post in the Persistant Worlds and Multiplayer forums. We would like to dramatically increase the player numbers across many persistant worlds and that will only work if players find a good home (PW) and stay.
3. If you enjoy the creative process and have a story you are dying to tell, tell it. We, as a community, enjoy experiencing each other’s stories. So pick up the toolset and give it a shot.
4. If you would like to contribute assets of any kind to the game, please do so. The amount of monsters/weapons/armor etc. in the D&D world has always been greater than the amount that can be put in any game. So there is always something to contribute. If you have a clever idea for a system (how to trade, how to climb walls etc.), new ideas and innovations are always welcome. If you fancy yourself a bit of an artist or decorator, publish a premade area or inn or house or cave dwelling. Whatever suits your tastes.
To summarize, we would encourage you all to find the element of Neverinter Nights 2 that will make you a happy long-term member of our community.
