I just got my issue of Official Xbox Magazine and they had an article about ME3. The article is about their hopes and fears.

This is what they want:

Hopes:

Co-Op
Squadmates to return
Romances to be more in depth and be less about sex 
Some small things(like sharing the drink with Chakwas, Conrad Verner)
Big events(Wrex on Virmire, Becoming a Spectre)

Fears:

Any kind of multiplayer(besides Co-Op)
Things like planet scaning and the Mako
Things like ME2 final boss
Having ammo instead of guns overheating

Things They Need to Happen(OXM):

Rachni coming back
Genophage being cured
Geth and the Quarian working together for the final battle
Keepers having something to do with it
To kill Udina

There's a reason competitive multiplayer is there Bioware. Who exactly did you listen to to put that in? Because I've only heard 1 or 2 people ever wanting it in there.

I like how journalists like IGN and OXM really don't want competitive multiplayer but it's most likely in the game anyway.

Great article though, really resumes all my fears about Mass Effect.

and the facebook pawns... and if bioware wants to listen to them so badly I suggest to rename the game to Massville...

To be honest I don't know how multiplayer in ME3 would work, all the maps would just be corridors.

I just hope Bioware listens to all these articles and fans saying that they DO NOT want multiplayer in ME 3. I don't think I've seen a single media source that wants competitive multiplayer in ME 3, and dozens of them have put up articles saying they don't want any kind of MP. I just don't know where Bioware is getting all this information that people want it. It must be coming from somewhere because these rumors and strong hints keep popping up that it's coming.

Even if BioWare wanted to listen to these articles, it's quite possibly too late now. If all the "rumors" are true then the MP aspect has been in development for quite some time, and to simply cut it loose at this point may be far less feasible financially than just continuing with the plan.



I don't think it matters if people "want it" so much as if they'll buy it. Those players who want the story are most likely irrevocably invested already and will buy ME3 for that regardless of other features. Those who like ME2's combat focus are probably going to get more of that in ME3. So, MP may bring in more sales by trying to appeal to yet another market.



Yes, the risk is that by appealing to multiple crowds you end up with a game that doesn't excel in any of them, but money is probably more important to them, both EA and BioWare.

On the contrary, my impression is that the media feels that a CO-OP multiplayer would be a good thing, the latest EBC podcast had some interesting discussion on the subject. I'll agree though that a competitive style multiplayer would suck. I would love some co-op in ME3 though.

Pretty much agree with all of their points, except for the Mako. The vehicle sections of ME1 really set the game apart from its competitors. Yes it needed improvements, but please keep at least some of it.

   It's alright if you mention that there was an article and maybe discuss a few points of it, but the scans should go, and I would avoid any direct quoting of it too.

Yeah, would be nice if you wrote the highlights of the article here. Sucks to be the person who missed the scans and who lives in Russia, a country not known to western gaming magazines.

Thanks. Personally, I agree with everything but the Mako. I really missed planetary exploration (and those amazing skyscapes) in 2. Driving/flying over scanning FTW.
