I haven't yet heard of this rather artistic form of advertising...  They had it for the release of Dragon Age Origins.  Is there going to be one for DA2??

Very informative video here:

Better include some images just in case!!

I ask because clearly this will sell a few more copies and if its in London again let me know and I may pop down

See look how much fun this Dragon Age player is having!!

While I was researching this further. Can you call it research? *ahem*  ^_^

It turns out this was part of a legitimate marketing strategy. It turns out Leliana and Morrigan were designed based on two models and an exclusive was given to Maxim a mens magazine

Exclusive: The Girls of 'Dragon Age: Origins' - Maxim.com

So next question is any of the new DA2 charecters based on any real life models???

I thought this would have been a post about the godawful underwear DAO had.

as a woman who loves spending a lot of time and money in lingerie stores, i have to say, those outfits aren't really that cute.

I didn't think it was possible, but that one woman (right side, bottom pic) has more cleavage than Isabela...

Those poor women.

Standing for hours at boat shows and car conventions, or fawning over nerds and pretending to be interested in video games. What price, dignity???

Amen sister. They're bland and don't even look fun to wear.

Although, I don't think underwear is reeeeeally what they were trying to put on display. :|

I feel sorry for them and for the geeks. Are...are they human!?

I suppose the thinking behind the advertisement isn't "if you play DAO, you might get hot chicks with lots of make-up and leather outfits on!", rather an effort to get people to look at DAO in the first place, by way of articles titled "Leather Bustier Ladies (and also Dragon Age)".

The one wielding the shield looks rather happy.

I am not expressing a particular desire with it, but how long would it take for men to do appearances like that for advertising.

nah they arnt the best outfits. But I suppose they need to have some armour protection to look slightly realistic...

If anyone has checked the video the project director tells one the models the idea is "medieval meets ****cat dolls..."    hmmm interesting direction for DA:O, wonder what Gaider would think :P

Nice to see BioWare joined forces with such a high-brow and classy company.

Yes, those poor women. Those poor women who choose to do this to make money. Those poor women who make money without having to do any form of actual work.

I think they should let women pick the fashion then, we would do a much better job of making it look more practical and sexy.

for starters if they really wanted to go DAO-esque, lose the shoes and the fishnet stockings, add more blood, messy hair, possibly a severed head for a prop.

modeling is hardwork. clearly you have no idea how it works. if anyone could just "sit there and look pretty" while someone took a picture, there would be a lot more better looking profiles on the internet.

model girls aren't born, they are manufactured (sadly).

Firstly, I thought for a second this thread was reffering to the underwear during the love scenes in-game

Secondly, I had no idea this actually transpired with Origins

I approve. But they can skip with having the girls pretend they are interest in watching someone else play the game.

Modeling is an authentic job for someone to have, I won't argue that. I wouldn't deride someone for being a model at all, even if it would make me personally feel like a slab of meat on a butcher's carving table. But hard work? Maybe because of the pressure. But, besides that, no. Most of the work is done by other people--the make-up, the costumes, the lighting, the sets, the photography--hell, most even have coaches on the side to tell them how to look and how to pose.

However, there's no arguing there's nothing pitiable about these girls--they choose to do the job after all, and they get paid for it. If they found it distasteful, they could choose to do something else.
