I never even heard of that, for the release of DA:O.
That is hilarious.

Firstly, I thought for a second this thread was reffering to the underwear during the love scenes in-game
Secondly, I had no idea this actually transpired with Origins [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/andy.png[/smilie]
I been around these forums far too long to know thats a topic which always come around once in a while. Plus they are being redone, I think the game developers have a better imagination.

Strangely enough, I never saw this when the actual Wardens' Quest came out. The forum would have had a gay ole time tearing that apart.

Really? That pretty surprising actually, plus finding something from Origins you haven't seen Maria is quite an accomplishment

modeling is hardwork. clearly you have no idea how it works. if anyone could just "sit there and look pretty" while someone took a picture, there would be a lot more better looking profiles on the internet.
model girls aren't born, they are manufactured (sadly).
Modeling is an authentic job for someone to have, I won't argue that. I wouldn't deride someone for being a model at all, even if it would make me personally feel like a slab of meat on a butcher's carving table. But hard work? Maybe because of the pressure. But, besides that, no. Most of the work is done by other people--the make-up, the costumes, the lighting, the sets, the photography--hell, most even have coaches on the side to tell them how to look and how to pose.
However, there's no arguing there's nothing pitiable about these girls--they choose to do the job after all, and they get paid for it. If they found it distasteful, they could choose to do something else.
Wasn't saying they needed or should be pitied - I was aruging that modeling is "no work". That is incorrect.
The 'sadly' part was me regretting that a model, something that is supposed to be the top form of human beauty, (or something along those lines) is something entirely contrived and not natural. That this "best beauty" that "everyone wants" is something created and not normal.

Push up bra. There are several that add one or two cup sizes. It's a case of false advertisement, or plastic surgery.
Or maybe they really are curvey. All of these are possible. Then again, that's probably a screenshot from the video and they were pretty busty in those so I doubt it was photoshopped.

Indeed. I think the "Evolution" advertisement of Dove showcases what you're talking about, the best.
Anyway - how is that relevant to the topic at hand? While the girls in the pictures aren't ugly, by my standards, they aren't anything special either... And the pictures do not appear to be photoshopped or in other ways manipulated after it they were taken.
EDIT: Note about the breasts:
Bottom left are implants, bottom right is push-up bra.

Its a bizarre industry. But people at the end of the day love looking a beautiful people male or female. They are the ones that grab the headlines even in papers or shows devoted to "news".Thief-of-Hearts wrote...

So yeah, still intrigued if this is happening to spice up DA2 or not...

Blood is not sexy. :| But I concur that this is definitely more ****cat Dolls than DA:O.Thief-of-Hearts wrote...
for starters if they really wanted to go DAO-esque, lose the shoes and the fishnet stockings, add more blood, messy hair, possibly a severed head for a prop.
It really is. I'd like to know what was on the screen at that time.Beerfish wrote...

The easiest way to tell if they've had breast augmentation is to look if their bust is "shelved": if there's an obvious outline on the top where they've been smooshed up. That's not natural--their bust should slope into their chest. (Somewhat unrelated is that push up bras that add whole cup sizes are padded as hell. Going up doesn't equate with going out--although the illusion of natural cleavage can trick some people into thinking so.)

Poofy hair looks nice, but it can get gobs of flesh stuck in it. Most adventurers don't have a shower or bath nearby, so you have to traipse around the countryside with rotting bits of darkspawn in your hair. Not attractive. And the copious amounts of hairspray make combing them out very difficult. A few of the girls have hair partially covering one eye, which makes it difficult to see an enemy.
Makeup isn't too bad, the Qunari might appreciate the time you took to apply eyeliner and lipgloss while one is trying to chop off your head. You would make a pretty trophy to hang over the fireplace.
I don't think they have spandex or vinyl in Thedas. Leather and metal offer more protection and support. Having one's "assets" going unsupported while running/jumping/stabbing is painful and breaks your concentration.
Large necklaces are also distracting. Nothing worse than having a mass of chains whack you in the nose while executing a technique.
The red gloves are cute, but since they're lace it messes up your grip. Again, leather is better.
Fishnets and stockings are not adequate leg protection. You can bleed out fairly quickly from a stab to your femoral artery. Plus, if one of the garters snaps it can leave a painful welt.
The shoes are cute, but wholly impractical. Who needs traps when you can accidentally get your heel stuck in some dead guy's eye socket? You need a more substantial heel in order to avoid such mishaps.
Thank you. *goes back to assembling her chainmaille corset*

It turns out this was part of a legitimate marketing strategy. It turns out Leliana and Morrigan were designed based on two models and an exclusive was given to Maxim a mens magazine
Exclusive: The Girls of 'Dragon Age: Origins' - Maxim.com

So next question is any of the new DA2 charecters based on any real life models???

as a woman who loves spending a lot of time and money in lingerie stores, i have to say, those outfits aren't really that cute.
am also wondering why all the chickas are brunettes?
I agree those aren't the best oufits.
And they're all brunettes to further in force that stereotype that only brunettes game.

That was just the models in the Sacred Ashes trailer, the in-game versions weren't based on anyone in particular.

Actually, not quite--their CGI faces were based off of those women. Their in-game faces were just made-up. I would say that the CC system is not detailed enough to make a real face, but...
