I'm a desk jockey with a bachelor degree, and I can tell you modelling is some of the hardest work I've ever done - hard in a factory line sort of way, where you don't necessarily have to bash your brain a lot, but it's still so, so tiring. Any of you who have worked behind the counter at McDonald's, or had a job screwing widgets into hoodickeys at a rate of 50 per hour... congratulations and welcome to the world of modelling.

If I had seen that advertising originally I would have been much more reluctant to buy the game. It definitely doesn't say "inclusive game with something for everyone", which is one of DA:O's selling points. Here's waiting for the Cosmo two-page spread.

I believe the term you're trying to look for is: "Mentally exhausting." =]

Yeah people seem to be saying that a lot.   But im asking a legitimate question  =] ^_^

Oh and Never Winter Nights had similar advertising too apparently.  Wonder how many sales they attribute to this sort of advertising...

Funny how if they only had men doing those things and posing for sexy images, there could be a possibility of sales dropping.

The one wielding the shield looks rather happy.

I am not expressing a particular desire with it, but how long would it take for men to do appearances like that for advertising.

Brawny ads.  Firemen calendars.  Magazine ads.  Mr. Olympia.  Etc.

In this day  and age, men are also used for display.  I see no problem with either.

I am aware of those, but what of the gaming industry?

I recall a scantily-clad man advertising Vampire - The Masquerade: Bloodlines, he was in S&M gear, meant to be one of the monstrous Nosferatu. They gave Shepard the face of a male model, how many female characters did they design off real people? Any other examples?
Do they still have only "booth babes" at conventions?

Put those next to the overall blur of boobs and bottoms that is game advertising and design.

I see your point.  But as long as guys are the vocal majority in gaming, they'll be the most catered to.  As women become more vocal about their gaming habits, you'll see more "skin" advertising being tailored towards them.

I guess it helps that I rarely ever notice booth babes (be they in car shows or game shows).  I'm as hormonal as the next guy but can seperate one from the other quite easily.

Their breasts are too big, totally unrealistic, they must be photo shopped.

That last photo is funny as hell.

It's quite natural and possible, sans photoshop, provided the woman in question is curvy enough.

Yeah I know, it is my standard response to the mega complaints about breast size for characters in DA.  And you provided a nice example as to why it is not far fetched to have a curvy character or more in a computer game.

Her model name is AlleyKatze and she's wonderful. I developed a super fan-crush on this girl after I saw these back when Origins came out.

Ah, I see.  I'm sorry for misjudging you.  And, yes, naturaly curvy women like Christina Hendricks are quite real and quite lovely.  So too are natrually slender women like Zoe Zaldaña.  What is unattractive is when one tries to emulate the other.

It's just so staged to the point of hilarity. I just love how fake all their expressions are. Particularly the bug-eyed guy in the back.

Yeah, I'm not into tatted up women at all but Alexandra "AlleyKatze" Stein is gorgeous.

Standing for hours at boat shows and car conventions, or fawning over nerds and pretending to be interested in video games. What price, dignity???

My memory may be failing me, but I believe they interviewed some of those gals and a few of them "admitted" to actually playing video games.

as a woman who loves spending a lot of time and money in lingerie stores, i have to say, those outfits aren't really that cute.

Amen sister. They're bland and don't even look fun to wear.

Although, I don't think underwear is reeeeeally what they were trying to put on display. :|

nah they arnt the best outfits. But I suppose they need to have some armour protection to look slightly realistic...

If anyone has checked the video the project director tells one the models the idea is "medieval meets ****cat dolls..."    hmmm interesting direction for DA:O, wonder what Gaider would think :P

I think they should let women pick the fashion then, we would do a much better job of making it look more practical and sexy.

for starters if they really wanted to go DAO-esque, lose the shoes and the fishnet stockings, add more blood, messy hair, possibly a severed head for a prop.

Nah, you couldn't do better.  Nope.  Not at all.  I'd believe that when I saw it.  Image IPB

Super Mario games are on top of the sales charts and you don't see Princess Peach running around naked in a Playboy magazine.
