Hello everyone! I'm a new to the game as of a little over a week ago. I got the game on the steam sale :D so i'm still pretty new. I'm fairly enjoying the game thus far but find making builds very complicated. Sort of wish I had a manual or something to help explain everything lol. Feel rather dumb because I usually catch on to a majority of things when I've put about 25+hours in a game already. Well here is where my trouble lies. I've started of as a hunter(archer). I got 8levels as a hunter. Then I started to realize I needed a prestige class and decided on Arcane archer just because I figured it was the only one I can really prestige in being an archer and all. I browsed a forum or two to try and see what I needed to do and what was the best way to do it. I saw a build that was 10hunter,1wiz,9AA so I decided that was almost exactly what I have and tried to emulate it as best as I could. So I put a level into Wizard making it 8hunter/1wiz. I then again level up to 10 and try to select AA but it didnt let me ?? I check to see if I had all the requirements and I do. Which are point blank shot,Longbow focus, base attack +6 and ability to cast level1 arcane spells. My only thoughts are that I can't select it because of my level or I can't select it because of the starting spells I chose for wizard or maybe because for some reason I cant actually cast those spells for some reason.

What is the character's intelligence? Most likely you do not have the 11 or more intelligence necessary to actually cast level 1 spells.

Shouldn't it be impossible to take a class (Wizard) if you don't have the minimum requirements?

No. You can use permanent item enchantment to boost your stat and still memorize and cast spells.

It won't fulfill a PrC's requirements though.

To the OP: Just to make sure: You're race is elf or half-elf, right?

Well, the good news is, with NWN2 there are literally hundreds of adventures to be had, so you will have plenty of time to sort out your favorite builds. I found it easier to start with a basic class: fighter, wizard, cleric etc... and play through a few games and get a feel for what I like before I started to use prestige classes.

If you are very interested in prestige classess, you should choose which one you want at character creation. Since you only get a few feats and a few skill points, you have to be able to plan ahead for most prestige classes.

Only at level 1. It also depends on the class, for example, Rangers can start with negative WIS.

OP: I think you can use items to qualify for AA. It shouldn't work, but you can exploit it so you don't need to start over again.

Hiya Obstikal,

For builds (and everything else NWN2), I would suggest that you check out this new welcome thread:

http://social.biowar...2/index/5688433

Of particular interest to you would be the NWN2 Wiki and NWN2 Character Builder (links in the above thread). That covers most of what you need to know about builds.
