One thing that jumped out at me while looking at some of the newest videos is the improvement in the animations. I think this is something that's easy to overlook as we're all used to movies, TV shows, and plays using human actors so when we see this sort of thing it doesn't look 'special' but 'normal.'

I'd like to point out a view things I noticed.

Characters interacting with objects:

Cassandra slamming the knife into the book. Varric opening it and running his fingers along the pages. Varric twirling a money bag around his finger, tossing it to Hawke, who catches it. The Grand Cleric pulls a piece of paper from the notice board and holds it up.

Compare this to DA:O where 80% of the time, object interaction was off screen. Alistair handed you a rose that you never saw. Brother Genetivi stood in front of the door and described what he was doing. You shived the prisoner in the gut but never saw it.

The one scene where we really see people interact with an object is the Joining, and the movements are much more wooden than what we see in DA 2.

Characters interacting with one another:

The sex scene.

Anyone remember the sex scenes in Origins? I'll show you a youtube of it if you don't remember.

It's not bad. It's not that great either.

Now the clip from the latest trailer:

Nice continuity error with the daggers.

Nice try, smarty pants.

Trailers often contain edits to the final content. This is why they are typically shorter than the final content.

All cutscenes are in-engine, not prerendered. At least that's the way it was for DA:O. In DA 2, they do seem to have the illustrated sections, but what we just saw doesn't appear to be out of engine.

And there's a good reason we do that: it lets us incorporate a custom Hawke appearance into the game. It would be so much easier if we only had one appearance to work with, but, you know, I love you guys and your awesome avatars.

...most of the time. <_<
