Nice continuity error with the daggers.

Nice try, smarty pants.

Trailers often contain edits to the final content. This is why they are typically shorter than the final content.

The cinematic team did amazing work. Just based on these snippets, it's the best work Bioware's done in cinematics yet, and far above anything that went into ME2.

The cinematics do look like they're better than ME 2, but you'd really need to play through the game to find out.

Now you're extremly pushing it. The animations in the Sebastian trailer look bad, far worse than in any ME

I don't look at trailers; I've just looked at what was posted in this thread, and it is far better than what Bioware did in ME2. I don't see any reason to assume that these random snippets are not indicative of the general type of animations we will see in DA2.

In ME, people didn't interact with objects. In ME2, you had people interact with data pads, shot glases and cigarettes.

I don't know, facial animations looked much more expressive and natural in DAO, It was one of the more impressive things about the graphics engine imo. DA2 looks much more plasticy and washed. It is nice to see actual articulating hands however.

Nonsense.  The animations look perfectly fine in that trailer.

Yeah, lets not get all worked up just because they actually have some hair moving in cut scenes. Moving hair in gameplay - that's when I'll get excited.

All cutscenes are in-engine, not prerendered. At least that's the way it was for DA:O. In DA 2, they do seem to have the illustrated sections, but what we just saw doesn't appear to be out of engine.

The only 'videos' they tend to do (which still use in engine stuff) tend to be small, constantly repeated stuff or a large-scale battle that never changes. Anytime the players involved its in engine directly. It would be less work for them to shoot in-engine stuff of existing cut scenes then make up entirely arbitrary ones outside of engine, using game assets just to try to make it 'look better'. So I agree with it all being in engine. Just doesn't make any sense, same reason they don't put out demos till after a games released, waste of good time.

That Varric bolt-spin thingy after he tosses the bag (plus the bag toss) I thought was freakin' awesome. Definitely the first game I've seen them do that's gone this far with the animations. ME2 was pretty good overall but they still had a tendency to use a lot of generic animations for a lot of cut scenes. Also the setting its self I guess doesn't lend its self to the kind of things DA does, like the bolt spinning or tossing money bags. Everything's data pads and omni-tools. Can't really spin an omni-tool fancily you know (side note, mildly shocked' fancily' is a word, least its not showing up marked by the spellchecker...)?

Ahh just move reasons to look forward to the game, gonna be all kinds of sexeh

And there's a good reason we do that: it lets us incorporate a custom Hawke appearance into the game. It would be so much easier if we only had one appearance to work with, but, you know, I love you guys and your awesome avatars.

...most of the time. <_<

Not really. I can't remember anything in ME2 quite as intricate as pinning a sheet of paper to a board with an arrow. Or twirling a bolt in one's fingers.

Hi, Pirate Laidlaw. About the disappearing dagger in the gif on the top of the page, I was wondering if sex scenes will be ala Dragon Age, with underwear.

...I just needed a excuse to ask this :<

If it features Hawke, it's in-engine since the face can be customized.
