I think they'll be like in ME2

Sadly, too. Bioware should go back to the understanded subtlety of ME1.

Yeah, lets not get all worked up just because they actually have some hair moving in cut scenes. Moving hair in gameplay - that's when I'll get excited.

If it features Hawke, it's in-engine since the face can be customized.

I'm more interested in seeing this type of thing during combat. Maybe I will, who knows?

All I know is, Shepard and my warden had some awfully stiff hair while fighting.

@ Yukidama. Bethany's boobs are smaller.

That is one of the few positions on the forum that has any kind of claim to a clear consensus.

Was there ever a hair model for Shepard that was long enough to make sense moving? Though I agree the DA:O hair was more of a fixed helmet than hair.

I can understand if they don't want to implement fancy physics in the game, its not exactly a top priority. But in regard to animations, specifically combat animations, flowing cloth or hair can do wonders. It basically serves to compliment/emphasize the movement of the character. Yes, I'm a fan of Anime.

*shrugs* Hair physics isn't all that important to me, I'd rather see realistic weapon, and body collisions this time around. I think I remember reading some sort of collision physics were added for some abilities however, so, we'll see.

I'd prefer some cloth physics so we can avoid whatever the hell is going on with Hawke's skirt here

Yeah... I usually try to defend the screens for this game, tellng myself (and others) it will look fine on good gaming rigs.  I just don't know what to think about this one though, it looks like rendering straight out of the 1990's.  I'll just pretend this screen was never captured, unless I start seeing more of similar quality.

I imagine it's like any other screenshot that is captured during a scene that usually passes in the matter of a second. The same kind of weirdness of apparent in DAO as well if you caught the slow mo scenes from the same angle, the skirts always looked really odd to me and rigid, and god forbid you had an arcane warrior in a robe. If you saw this happening normally you'd probably be watching the awesome slow mo of the weapons come crashing down, not the quaint folds of fabric between his legs.

Gosh, that rouge outfit is so killer. What to play as?! I'll need to flip a coin.

The warden's reaction to Wynne collapsing in Origins was so hilariously terrible. It was a great game, but i'm really looking forward to a more cinematic experience with DA2.

Really?  Really?  Son, I suggest you load up Quake 3 and then return with some renewed perspective.

Which admittedly was 1999

Edit: one of these days I'll figure out how to imbed images, I swear.

...no kidding, the game looks nice. Not the top-end graphics or anything but it has a great style and anyone comparing it to the 90's is just kidding them selves... or was to drugged out of there mind to remember anything.

Improved animations and cinematics are exactly what the Dragon Age franchise needed. Animations can add so much more to the depth of characters and the feeling of being in a world, instead of a game. Varric twirling his bolt while talking helps illustrate his character more than standing still and talking could. The fact that the talking scenes will have more than two camera angles and show objects being manipulated, is a huge improvement for me and I am looking forward to it.

OH MY GOD I am with you on this. The minute I saw my Warden's eyebrows literally LAUNCH INTO HER HAIRLINE while her mouth gaped like a fish, I started cackling and could. Not. Stop.

We can only improve from here.

Does the swaying hair mark the return of the danglymesh on character models? If so, I certainly hope that it'll be used on armour and clothing as well, when applicable of course. ^_^

Whoa, this thread really emphasises how good this game is looking. I never even thought about the object interaction (or lack of it) in DA:O. Great thread, Maria and co.

Varric's arrow twirling is awesome!

All cutscenes are in-engine, not prerendered. At least that's the way it was for DA:O. In DA 2, they do seem to have the illustrated sections, but what we just saw doesn't appear to be out of engine.

And there's a good reason we do that: it lets us incorporate a custom Hawke appearance into the game. It would be so much easier if we only had one appearance to work with, but, you know, I love you guys and your awesome avatars.

...most of the time. <_<

And we love you bioware for that.. Most of the time!.

I love having my very own hero in the cutsenes, its just so awesome. I even like it as much as Blizzard cutscenes, and those, those my friend, are F*ing awesome, i guess almost everyone agrees on that.

Looks more like Planescape Torment to me.
