Agreed with everything especially this.  I just can't see my gaming clan getting psyched about a ME multiplayer that was added onto a final game of the trilogy.

This is what really bugs me, Bioware have delivered two awsome singleplayer games in the form of ME1&2, chucking multiplayer into ME3 just does not feel right even if they did get it right.

My usual disclaimer: I'm not against multiplayer, just where they impliment it.

Follow my simple advice, and the following is equally likely to happen.

Friend: You just verbally obliterated that reporter. That was awesome.
Me: Yeah. She probably should have tried knowing what the hell she was talking about before stepping up to Shepard.
Friend: Does kinda suck that all those people died to save three ungrateful aliens, though.
Me: Yeah, but how many more aliens and humans might have died if race riots broke out over humanity taking over a Council they didn't even try saving?
Friend: True. But, you're working for Cerberus now. That's weak. You even colored your armor white, black, and orange. Not cool.
Me: Can't be helped. They're the only ones taking the reaper stuff seriously.

Yeah, that can happen on this very forum too.  How many people would actually want someone there talking to them the whole time while they try to be engaged in their Shepard's final story?  :?

I think I've run out of way's to say NO to this question.

ME3 is the final chapter of a single player trilogy, and as such should be left as single player.

Alright, that particular scene is approximately one minute in length. Would this conversation happen for the remaining 1,800 minutes (30 hours) worth of the game? Aye, combat would inevitably ensue, but dialogue makes up half of the game. In addition, while your friend may reaction in this manner. Your friend fancies RPGs. A multiplayer component would indicate BioWare is attempting to attract the FPS fanbase, whose interest would wane within a hour due to lengthily dialogue.

Therefore, the multiplayer alone has to be so outstanding, it will sell itself as the single player will be worthless to the aforementioned group. Couple that with the necessity of convincing them it warrants time away from Call of Duty or Halo... and frankly, it just will not happen.

In actuality, I had an amusing experience with my cousin, who is an avid Black Ops player. When I initially discussed the Vanguard class and how you essentially bounce around the battlefield like a ping pong ball whilst wielding a shotgun. His interest perked within a second, but the moment I mentioned dialogue, he wrote the game off as not his taste.

These are the people a ME3 MP would attempt to lure over. My query is, why would they shell sixty dollars to play a multiplayer version of ME3 when they already own arguably the best MP in present day existence? I will happily eat crow for the following statement if proven wrong however ME3 MP will not be superior to Black Ops', no matter what BioWare thinks.

C9316 wrote...

The exact same thing that would happen when this occurs in Baldur's Gate II: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING DIFFERENT FROM THE SINGLEPLAYER GAME.

And how much dialogue was in Baldur's Gate? If memory serves, it amounted to less than a third of ME and it was a relatively short game. ME3 should be a thirty hour game at a minimum.

I do not have a qualm with a future Mass Effect online multiplayer game. I am liable to purchase such a game if reviews and recommendations suggest the game is worth my money. What draws my ire is the possibility of a less than satisfactory ME3. If they are going to do it, then do it properly. Two years development is nothing in comparison to the decades CoD and Halo have, especially not when other aspects of the game require attention.

Rubs chin. . . Humm guess I have to repeat - cut and paste what I posted on the other one.

Why MP shouldn't be in ME 3 and one reason why it will take from development - story time.

You know you MP lovers should just google Black Ops hacks. . . Maybe that will finally sink it in. . . *ponders*

Ah gawd damit I forgot about the Halo lovers. . . . Just try googleing Halo Reach Hacks. . . .

Humm guess I have to hit closer to home to get the point though. . .

EA - DICE are you listening? Battlefield Bad Company 2 Hacks   Just google it, no harm or foul intended.

How about a more recent release. . . Metal of Honor 2010 Hacks. . . . (the 2010 version that was released in October.) Hell if memory serves me right someone had boasted a hack on MoH before it was released, same thing with COD MW 2.

Do just a little bit of digging and you will hear some major screaming from frustrated players out there. Hell just watch the posted vids! *whispers* don't think L4D2 hasn't been hacked? Ah. . . You tube has a wonderful video on it. Although it's less of a annoyance since those series of games have no PVP play (gotta love that aimbot - ammo hack.) Course the whole point of the game is to help each other though the levels, which when it first came out didn't happen. <_<

Dose anyone think that dosen't effect SALES - DEVELOPMENT FUNDS now? How many folks are alienated by this stuff? I was and it's why I will not buy another COD game. I don't have MoH and no your fancy graphics didn't attract me. . . Oh wait I don't have the Battlefield series either! And it's all due to MP on COD MW2 which I still freely admit my hate for.

How about the develoment time it takes for these projects? The simple fact alone the programmers had to incorporate anti-hacking into it takes away from time spent on graphics, maps, AI (if any) etc. . .

Do you guys understand one of the reasons why some folks don't want it in ME 3 now? Why MP development will take from the story, AI, NPC social interaction, and other development?

Or is there going to be any kind of monitering past the usual anti copy stuff? Any anti-hacking? One monitor for 40 rooms and tossing interns at the wolves? Nice job Activision, cough cough oh wait Sony. . .

Replayablity? I still toss in my old Rainbow Vagas disks from time to time, no one's MPing there, not that it matters anyway I just will not do it. Hells bells you want to hear about a old title? I would still be playing System Shock 2 if Nivida still supported it. (humm that reminds me I should try it out on the new compy!)

Minimizing the story time, not futher developing the AI, is why I've stopped buying. I know a lot love 'bling, bling' graphics, but that's only one part of the game. MP is a option, and one I refuse to pay or play.

I guess, if I have to tollerate the hacks, I just play the Free to Play Shooter MPs out there. . . It's just more money in my back pocket. The screaming is the same (gawd why will parents not watch there kids more.. . . ).

*pulls up pant to reveil one hairy ass leg* :o it's for attention! Honest! Here dev,  here dev. . .  *just kidding!*

I've made an effort to say no to the dozens of MP threads on a half dozen forum sites. Once again... ME is Shepards trillogy. If you people can't handle a 40hour campaign then go play Halo. If your desire is to be a Krogan, wait till the next installment and see if they let you choose a race.

MP = shorter campaign.

Nope

A game should stand on its singleplayer, I do not want to risk singleplayer being neglected just to attract the mutliplayer contigent of the market.

I've also said no to multiplayer on numerous occasions - unless it is kept entirely separate from ME3 development and release. Sure, MP DLC later on is fine, I won't spend my time or money on it, but that won't mean a thing to BioWare/EA - I'm probably smaller than an ant in terms of global sales stats.

I will buy ME3, I want to know what happens next no matter how badly it could be handled - I've spent too much of my time on ME1 & ME2 to stop there.

TBH I wouldn't really mind cooperative multiplayer because I love playing games with friends but tt'd be strange to have 2 look-a-like Shepards in one group and the choices of the game won't work either....
