What TV shows should I watch?

I'm looking forward to the next series of Archer right now, I watch Colbert on occasion, but other than that not much.

Ugly Americans. If you haven't been watching it, start! Right now! Show is genius.

Eastbound and Down. Kenny Powers is a legend. Actually I've no idea if they are showing it at the minute wherever you are. But thats your fault, if you were a true champion you would find a way to watch it.

What is this 'TV' that you speak of? lol..

On the serious side, all I watch is Archer (high-five!), Family Guy, V, and House. And that's only when I can pull myself away from the PC long enough to watch them.

Depends on what kind of show you want.

If you want animated comedies like Archer than Family guy ect.

Supernatural is really good IMO and I also like Chuck.

If you don't care wether the show is still on the air than 24 is my all time favorite show.

Buffy and Angel and Firefly are a must.

NBC Thursday night lineup is good: Community, 30 Rock, and The Office.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: FX

The Walking Dead: AMC

Neither of those are airing right now, they both just finished their seasons.

The prequel of Spartacus Blood and Sand, Gods of the Arena? I think it's called. Supernatural is really good to watch if your into a paranormal, and mythological themed show.

I have no idea when any of these shows were released, so I'll just list off my recommendations by category (Live and Animated).

Live:

Supernatural

Stargate SG1 & Atlantis

Star Trek DS9 (has the most action & better story than most of the other STs)

V (they just released season 2)

Vampire Diaries (mostly drama & romance, but still a good vamp show)

True Blood (pretty gorey for a tv show, has a good story, less retricted than most vamp shows, and has good twists in it)

Animated:

Hellsing (Regular & Ultimate)

Blood + (REALLY good story, harsh reality, good action, good & sad moments, an believable characters)

Full Metal Alchemist (similar to Blood + in almost every way, just has more funny moments)

Devil May Cry (based on the game, has all original characters, original voice actors, an rings true to the game)

Berserk (really old anime, meant for mature persons only, and has a really good story to it)

Death Note (highly suspenseful with a deviantly brilliant character that possesses a note book that can kill anyone whose name is written in it - truly one of the best I've seen)

Spawn (the anime is MUCH MUCH better than the live version, makes more sense, an Al Simmons actually develops into something more as he struggles with his current life vs his old life. Buy the DVDs cause the episodes are more compacted an will play non stop from 1st to last of every season)

Not many shows are able to captivate me & make me beg for more, the above listed shows definitely were able to accomplish that.

Battlestar Galactica (Reimagined Series)

Babylon 5 (NOTE: You mus thave a tolerance for dated/bad special effects, but the writing is excellent)

Caprica

Crime:

Castle

Drama:

Rome (HBO)

Jericho

Mad Men

Comedy:

Scrubs

The Big Bang Theory

Modern Family

Animation - Comedy:

South Park (Seasons 3 and later)

Animation - Action/Drama/Sci-fi:

Batman: The Animated Series

Superman: The Animated Series

Batman Beyond

Death Note (Anime)

Samurai Jack (This might be more of a comedy, but it blurs the lines)

I definitely concur with these three. I've really been enjoying the new V series. Though I can't imagine it going on for more than three seasons, maybe four. The story just isn't deep enough for that yet.

As for the anime, I'd recommend the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime over the older one, because the new series follows the manga very closely. I don't know what they were doing with the original. Berserk is excellent, but the anime ends in a major cliffhanger, and they never made a second season. Therefore the anime is good for getting into the series, but the manga is far superior, and continues on waaaaay after the parts of the story covered in the anime.

All I watch now is The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. That cheeky monkey.

Bones, Castle (♥ Nathan Fillion), Psych (♥ Psych) Chuck, Supernatural, The Office and Community (♥ Community) are also great. Though none of those are airing right now.

Parks and Recreation. See avatar. If you hurry you can catch up on seasons one and two (the latter is much better, they needed to find their footing) before the third season debuts on Jan 20.

Also, for shows that are off the air if you have not seen Deadwood, correct this mistake immediately by whatever means you have at your disposal.

Most of my recomendations are no longer on air, but: Deadwood, The Wire, Firefly, Terriers, Rubicon, Treme, and Homicide.

In Treatment, Fringe, Futurama, and Supernatural are still on air and they are also very good.

Well you say "only", but the legendary Fawlty Towers (and The Young Ones :P) was only 12 episodes.  Arguably a bit too brief, but if you look at shows that go on past their best, e.g. Red Dwarf (and there are plenty of worse offenders) I think calling it a day after just a couple of series is probably a good idea.

Agreed the longer they go on the more tiresome they get, you could add 'Allo 'Allo to that too.. still a good show but I think it went on for too long.
