The Wire was so good and it's ridiculous how much it makes other dramas look amateurish. Give it a shot but at least finish a season because the cast is large and each season is one setting with many separate plots and characters intersecting. Absolutely, hands down my favorite TV show ever. Probably the first show to depict criminals as actual humans instead of stereotypes an cliches.
Party Down was amazing and the 2 season have been released on DVD.
Terriers was really great but sadly it was cancelled after only one season. Thanks a lot FX. Don't judge it by the name because it is an awful name. It's about an ex-cop turned pi and his partner, a former criminal. The two leads have great chemistry and add subtle humor to lighten the serious tone of the show. Such a shame it's no long on.

I'm the only Leverage fan here? It's the only TV I actually try to plan my schedule around. Usually I'm at work too late to catch new stuff, even though I enjoy House and what not. If you liked the Oceans movies or like smart, clever, witty shows I recommend Leverage.

I literally just started this show on DVD and I will confirm that it is highly entertaining.

My other half's really into that. Kind of reminds me of the good old days of The Bill, though that went astray way back in the '90s...C9316 wrote...

The "good old days"? The Bill? Bah! That had nothing on Heartbeat!

But Hearbeat had Slimy Wicksy off Eastenders, a man who I could never bring myself to like.JRCHOharry wrote...

In terms of recent shows I recommend "The Walking Dead". That was a great zombie show.
I also recommend "Dr. Who" it's been around forever. It goes back decades.
House is also a good medical tv show. Definitely better then Hawthorne or Grey's Anatomy. There's also Scrubs which is a good comedy doctor show.

Problem is, it's almost impossible to watch Hugh Laurie without thinking of this chap:NvVanity wrote...

Castle and Sons of Anarchy.
An older show I think is worth a look is Monk. The Blackadders are also really good if you like that kind of comedy.

Indeed, Doctor House is a long throw from Prince George of Wales or Wooster from Jeves and Wooster for that matter.
