Oh snap, I really hope that offer extends to peeps who preordered the signature edition at an actual Gamestop store location. Not a biggie if not though I guess, I am more of a fan of 2 handed weapons for my warriors, even made Alistair a 2 handed warrior on my last nightmare run and it worked great - better then ever actually. That sheild sure is pretty though.

EA Store info confirms "Might of Sten" as 2H. As well as "Apostate's Courage" - staff, "Adder of Antiva" - bow, and "Seeker's Bulwark" - shield.

So, I preordered the sig edition, with next to no gameplay footage, because I put my faith in bioware, and because I have a preorder with a different vendor, I won't get these items? This is so lamecore.

But your getting all that free DLC for preordering. Is that not enough?

True, but the Signature Edition is supposed to be the definitive edition, eclipsing and enclosing every other version. The devs themselves mentioned that it was the collector's edition. If that's the case, not spelling out what the pre-order bonuses are for the Sig Edition/Doing so for the GS Edition aka not making it clear whether we're not getting something or not is bad marketing.

The way I see it, no retailer should get any kind of bonuses for the regular version. People order early, are rewarded. People order late, are not. This kinda messes up that dynamic.

Crimson, calm down. It's obvious that it's a two-handed sword for multiple reasons that have been stated. Common sense would show this. Hell, there's everything for every class / spec.

Staff for Mage.

Shield for S&S.

Sword for 2h.

Ring for dual wield.

Bow for Archery.

Why are you concerning yourself with this? DA2 doesn't feature NG+, therefore you didn't preorder it and you won't play it.

STEN is not a god damned name. Sten is a RANK, Qunari do not have names, not the way we do.

Thanks for clearing that up. I had no grasp of basic lore whatsoever before you came along. I am truly humbled.

are you kidding me??

you are the one who made the leap of logic that since the sword is named "might of the sten" and "sten was trained with 2 handers" then the sword has to be a 2 hander.
How exactly do you get to be sarcastic now about having a grasp of the lore?

You're getting really excited about this, aren't you?

It's not a matter of differentiating between the character Sten and the fact that it's because that's his rank and nothing more. When someone's played Origins and they hear Sten, their first thought is of the character. Who, oh, look at that, used two-handed weaponry. Yes, I know Sten is a rank. I read the Codex. I've been on the forums. It's not some big revelation, trust me.

And I don't need a reason to be sarcastic. It's sort of a package deal.

Note: I'm not "starting an argument." I'm trying to make a point.

EA Store to the rescue!!

Pre-order Dragon Age™ II and get all of the following:

FADESHEAR

The core of this blade is old. As old as the first smiths who sought a
way to battle the nightmares from the land beyond. It has fought the
demonic hosts in countless battles. Sometimes it has been held high in
triumphant victory. Other times, it has lain broken besides its dying
owner. But after every defeat it has always been reclaimed, reforged,
and made stronger. Fadeshear has passed through many hands before yours.
Now it is your turn to make the demons of the Fade pay for crossing the
Veil into the waking world.

  • Improves with each level-up
  • Additional damage vs. demons and undead

THE LION OF ORLAIS

At the height of the Summer War all of Orlais was embroiled in fierce
battles. Over the course of the war dozens of contenders for the
Imperial Throne emerged – most long forgotten except as footnotes in
scholarly tomes. But everyone remembers the gallant young lord Emile
Deveraux, “The Golden Prince”. Thought outnumbered at every turn, he
racked victory upon victory culminating in the Seventh Battle of Roses.
While wearing this shield he broke through his uncle’s vanguard to win
the day. He never knew the taste of defeat, instead meeting his end at
the hands of a jealous lover in the dead of night.

excited? no, Irritated? perhaps.

just because a sword is called "might of the sten" (above all since there are several places that called it might of of "the" sten and not just might of sten) it does not mean it is a reference to a character whose rank was sten yet you make it sound like a certainty even tho you yourself had no proof or showed no knowledge of the EA store details.

if one of the Items was the "shield of the paragon smith"would it HAVE to be a reference to Branka or Caridin because they were paragon smiths? were there no other paragon smiths?

whatever it does not matter I know what I wanted to know

It's just that I feel that I am being penalized for something. I am paying my money, I am preordering even, why should others get something that I don't? I can understand the preorder bonus, but vendor-specific bonuses!? It's madness.

I'm sorry to say it, but this really encourages pirates who simply want the entire package. Someone will crack it all and put it one nice torrent. Here's a lesson Bioware marketing team: make your product EASIER to consume than the pirates (who are kind of your competitors in a sense). Now that the PS3 has been firmly cracked open, no platform is safe from piracy anymore.

If someone can get EVERYTHING at the click of a button, without having to worry about preordering, before a specific deadline and also from a specific VENDOR, doesn't pirating become all that more attractive?

Go back and read this thread. Are there Bioware customers who have already put down their money that are worried or angry that they will miss out on these items? The answer of course, is yes. Upsetting your customers is generally not a good business model (not saying that their model is flawed since they are making tonnes, but it's not a good trend to set).

I think I can safely say that Qunari are very large people who like 2H weapons. Calla's logic was correct, and crimzon got confirmation of a 2H's existence in the extras. Argument over.

Everyone should save their aggravation for the fact that all the other preorder extras seem to be showing up after the SE expiration. If Fadeshear levels up, then other weapons damn well better, too. Also, perhaps the SE's cutoff date should have been after it was clear what retailers would have extras, if any.

It's just an extra sword and shield. If people were going to pirate the game, I'm prett sure they made up their minds when they found out the game exists.

A lot of stores offer vendor-specific bonuses. It's an incentive to buy from that store. There will probably be other preorder bonuses from other stores.

When you preordered the game it meant you got things other people didn't when they didn't preorder before January 11th.  We're getting extra stuff for our games that we would not have gotten otherwise and we're getting it for free. How does that make you feel penalized?

So, does this mean that there's one level of extras for SE buyers, another for those who preorder the regular/SE edition (Fadeshear/Lion of Orlais for all of them), plus extras depending on retailer for preorders, and then bupkis for people who buy new after release?

Good Lord.
