3. Problem Details
My problem is that ME1 continually crashes on my desktop. Th same desktop that can play Assassin's Creed 1 and 2, both Call of Duty MWs, DA:O and DAO:A and Mass Effect 2 with no issue for several hours on end. There seems to be no ryhym or reason for it. i can play it for several hours, and then it just locks completely up. Or I can be plying only fr about ten minutes. I've completely uninstalled and deleted all program files in regards to ME and still, it keeps doing this. It's starting to get rather frustrating because I'd like to recreate a character to play all the way through but this keeps making it hard.

ME 1 Minimum Specs:
Single Core Cpu @ 2.4ghz
Multiple Core Cpu @ 2ghz.
Your system doesnt appear to meet the minimum requirements unfortunately.
That said;
Have you applied the 1.02 patch?
Have you tried rolling your video drivers back to a previous revision, as some of the newer driver (especially vNivida) can go along and screw things up for older games?
If those options dont work, then your will have to upgrade your system in order to play.

How does one go about rolling back drivers?

There should be a button under that tab to roll them back to a previous version.

The irony about the processor is it plays ME2 and later games with no headache.
Well, besides being more compatible than ME1, ME2 doesn't have as many open areas, nor areas with a large number of concentrated NPCs (*cough* Presidium *cough*).
It is absolutely normal that ME2 runs fine, but ME1 doesn't work/crashes often/runs slowly/etc.

Not only is the core speed quite slow, but the requirements are for a full-power processor, which doesn't include the Atom, any Celerons, most Semprons, and about half of the "Pentium Duals", which need to run much faster than a complete Core Duo does to do the same job, since it has maybe 25% or less of the cache amount that a proper Intel "Core" should have.Bogsnot1 wrote...

ME2 runs much smoother than ME1 on my PC (and the Xbox 360) as well.AquilusOrus wrote...
