I get occasional random crashes. The occurances seem to become slightly more frequent the longer I run the game.

My system runs on Win7 64 Dell edition, with ATI for graphics.

My computer literacy can only be called average, at best.

Oh, I forgot, I've got 6GB of RAM and 1GB memory on my vid card. Graphics drivers are upgraded via Steam. I will be upgrading my graphics card in the future, depending on whatever's good.

As for RAM.. I didn't think ME2 needed THAT much RAM... How much system memory do I need?

2gb system RAM for Win7/Vista. At least 3 for it to run smoothely depending on how many of the shinies you have enabled.
If you have an nvidia based card, I would suggest disabling Steams ability to update the drivers. ATI isnt too bad, but nvidia is chronic for having new revision drivers completely buggering up older games like ME2.

when I installed ME2, it usually does the install of the DirectX9.0c by itself (if it's out of date of course), and I use AVG Internet Security 2011, it was running when I did the reinstalled of ME2!

SSV Enterprise, I already did the thing that BOGSNOT1 sugested, and even with Smartdoctor and GamerOSD disabed and /or uninstalled the game still won't work, and before I installed my new video card, and that was in the month of august, before then I got ME2 to work perfectly with the Firewalker Pack (Cerberus Network), Cerberus Arc Projector (Cerberus Network), Normandy Crash Site (Cerberus Network), Cerberus Weapon and Armor (Cerberus Network), Zaeed - The Price of Revenge (Cerberus Network), Terminus Weapon and Armor, Umbra Visor (Dr. Pepper), Recon Hood (Dr. Pepper), Alternate Appearance Pack 1 (Garrus, Thane, Jack), Kasumi - Stolen Memory, Equalizer Pack, Overlord Pack, Blood Dragon Armor, and the Aegis Pack DLC's, but it's only started to not work AFTER installing fire power pack and lotsb DLC's, so it has to be a software glitch, theirs no other way!

Bogsnot1, that's down right stupid, a computer with many and powerful games need more then 2 to 3, for me, I have 6Gbs of Ram, 64 Mbs of ram built into my sound card, 1Gb of ram built into my video card, and I'm using my two 500Gb hard drives (data storage) as virtual memory and it's still barely enough to keep my computer running smoothly, my motherboard has a Ram-limit of 24Gbs, and that's my next upgrade for my computer, getting more ram!

Bogsnot1, another thing, you said that nVidia is still making newer drivers that have no backards compatibility for ME2, havn't you conplained to there web sites forum about this!<_<

Locutus asked specifically how much RAM ME2 needed. Not other games, just ME2. According to the specs, it only requires 2gb, and I added another 1gb to ensure smooth playability

depending on how many of the shinies you have enabled.

This means depending on Aero interface and the like. Things that go along and needlessly tie up system resources.
The reason why I havent complained on nvidias forum about their drivers is that other people have already done so. I have no need to start another thread on the same topic
I do the smart thing, and check the release notes of the new drivers first to see if they will offer any particular benefits or fixes to problems I am having. I'm not the sort of person to blindly download new drivers or patches just because its available. I'm running an older card, and predominantly older games. Their new drivers have nothing to offer me.
I only run 2gb of RAM, 512mb GPU and onboard Realtek sound, and yet my system runs smooth and error free. ME 1 and 2, Overlord 1 & 2, DA:O, even AC Brotherhood all run smoothely at 1600x900 at near or full maximum settings.

I'm back, did you report on me again? Because I got banned because of it (did you get me banned), you promised we be professional about our discussions, if you want specifics I'll give you specifics, take a gander at this!!!

...insert wall of text here...

read it and weep!!!

The only time I reported you, was after you sent me those 3 hateful and curse filled PM's, which took a few days for Mr Priestly to respond to.  It was your actions which resulted in your getting banned, not mine, as you violated the rules of this site.
Pacifien shut your thread down before I was even aware of its existance, so I suggest you take the matter up with her, if you are seeking someone to vent at.
I was willing to do what I could in order to help sort out the problems that are occuring on your system, but given the childish behaviour you are exhibiting, I have lost any interest in rendering any assistance to you at all.

As I have mentioned previously, feel free to take these matters up with EA support, as they are the ones who are paid to put up with your poor attitude. These are user to user based support forums, and thus we dont have to put up with your ranting at any time.
