If it was optional, and this is your issue, yeah, it's illogical. You're make wild assumptions about things the developers might include, and what you think the players might do with what they don't. Which they can't.

Ok ok only this one more nagging thing...it being optional isn't my issue (like wtf?). It's people wanting this in general, thinking it might improve the game. And wild assuptions? OK silly me for not being able to prevent myself from assuming that people actually like to twist game features around and find funny little glitches which they immediately post on YouTube. Maybe I don't trust the general public then, but can you honestly blame me? The thing is that, why put the children in the game and then bottle neck their impact to prevent any kind of mistreatment? Wouldn't it be easier to just leave them out to begin with?

This whole thing wasn't about me, myself and I. It's about the general public. Seems more like you just wanting to paint me out as a sexist. It's hard to explain my true, complete views about this without writing the whole damn page full of text, every variation, every reaction, every different situation. The thing is that, in order to make this game feature realistic and valid, Bioware would have to write mountains of story text, add an insane amount of variations and after that, also be able to dodge misbehavior and exploit.

Easier to just stick to the epilogue.

How would it be optional unless they included a Fablesque "Would you like to have protected or unprotected sex" line? Or are they going to play lullabye music if your night in the tent was "successful"?

how about dialog options with the loved one? nah, that'd be too obvious.

The snark here, it fails completely.

that fablesque line was given to the player as a pop up screen and not as dialogue to the character, the snark stands:devil:

Just because you disagree with the idea, does not make it stupid.

There are various suggestions here how this could work. There were character-changing dialogues in Origins, take the "hardening" of Leliana and Alistair, for example, which changed the outcome of certain plot lines. And it happened with a single dialogue line and later confirming it in conversation.

Companions may be a bit of a difficult case with this though, that is why I think certain romance options outside the party might be more viable for this idea. However, this was firstly suggested rather late in the development of the game, and right now it is pure speculation.

And conversely, just because you love an idea doesn't make it a great one, either.

There are various points made here why it would be a bad idea, not just gameplay reasons, community cohesion ones.

You add in biological children, you'll have to add in adopted ones for the gay community or the community of those who want a child without being forced to have a LI they don't like, for the single guys and gals who have a lot to offer but haven't met their soul mate yet, whatever reason.

Is seems to open up alot more complications and headaches than to simply make it an end slide.

I think I would like the option to be an aunt/uncle more than a parent in DA2. That would make more sense to me. It would also make it easier to give the kid a real personality and story of its own. Otherwise I'm indifferent to the idea of spawning an heir. If we had the option I would probalby try it out. But, it's not that exciting to me right now.

Where were those parades when the dark ritual or Aeducan bastard-child happened? Mods happened, instead.

Besides that, it is purely an assumption.

So a gay man had to sleep with Morrigan to save his life and have one with Zevran? Big deal?

Exactly, the Aeducan thing had no consequences, wasn't a real story elemnt at all. If your main character who lives in one place for over a decade has a kid there damn well better be some sort of impact and interaction - not an "oh, by the way here's your kid, can you do me this favor real quick, thanks!" five minute quest.

That's the kind of kid Hawke should have? Way to have a meaningful story.

Although I'd love to debate this more, I have to shovel snow now. Posted Image

eh i'm a bit iffy about this.....i would rather just have my LI and then after a time skip, a kid magically appears. don't really need to go into all that pregnancy nonsense. i dont really see how it would fit in the context of the game without a timeskip

It'd be more realistic if SOMEONE got knocked up. Doesnt necessarily have to be a Warden... but it does happen in real life... as it is, the only children we usually see are human ones...

Birth takes 9 months so if you were the one having the baby thats alot of time you would be sitting around. By the time you give birth and are settled down i doubt you would be able to keep up with everyone f or awhile.

I'm not a chick but i dont think the day after giving birth you're going to be off slaying dragons not even a month after.

Thats alot of action you're missing by the time you've given birth the worlds already been saved.

not pregnancy!  People didnt have contraception, so they were poppin kiddos out all the time.  The survival rate was much lower due to the hazards, but I like to think most people still had some sort of family...

well...I foresee a pregnancy in ME3 (Shepard said she wants Liarta to give him lots of blue children.....that one line was awfully cute)

as for DA2, well it's a 10 years story so, why not? I'd love to see Isabela as a mommy

Personally, I think children are the kiss of death in adventure/action stories/games/movies, with rare exceptions like 'The Incredibles.'
