A quick look in DATool would suggest that Asala uses the model w_gsw_gs05a_0. All you need to do is extract the MMH and PHY and rename them appropriately. I don't know what the filename for the 2H Starfang is though. Maybe see if you can find a mod that replaces it - that should give you the necessary filename. I suspect it is probably variation 7 or 8.
Alright i did save as... with the datool, so all i need to do is find out what starfang is named and just name these files after that and throw into override?
i dont need the dds files and the mao/msh?

The only thing you want to do besides changing the actual filenames is to open both files in the GFF editor (either the standalone one or using the toolset) and change the MMH filename references at the top of each.

w_gsw_gs03a_0.mmh
w_gsw_gs03a_0.phy
(3 being the model used by starfang)
and then change
MMH_NAME
MMH_MODEL_HIERARCHY_MODEL_DATA_NAME
and
MMH_NAME (in the phy)
That didn't work... i guess Starfang is special

Given that the images of the original on Wikia would indicate that it uses an emissive map, it may be worth specifying a custom MAO and including a custom emissive map that replicates the original, assuming that was of interest.
By the way, for future reference what did the model variation number turn out to be?
