We are pleased to reveal new bonus content for players who purchase Dragon Age II.

The Black Emporium - Hidden below Kirkwall is the Black Emporium. This mysterious location contains many strange and powerful magics and items. By visiting the Black Emporium, players will be able to use the Mirror of Transformation and change their appearance. They'll be able to find exclusive magic and and crafting stores. And they'll find a whistle allowing them to summon a powerful Mabari Hound in battle.

The Lion of Orlais - A mighty shield that comes with two rune slots as well as granting the player greater health and the ability to earn more XP.

Fadeshear - A powerful sword that actually improves as the player gasins levels. It also does extra damage versus demons and the undead.

The Black Emporium will be included in all copies of Dragon Age II including the Signature Edition, copies pre-ordered between now and launch, and copies purchased new in stores after launch.

The Lion of Orlais shield and the Fadeshear sword will be oonly available to players who pre-order Dragon Age II before launch. They are included in the Signature Edition.

You can read more about the Black Emporium, Fadeshear and the Lion of Orlais HERE

Hey guys, just a little clarification on the Mirror: it will warp and bend Hawke's appearance to the player's will, but your gender remains the same.

This is a feature I worked on and I'm glad to hear you are all so excited about it! :)

Ahoy! We're still busy working, but I've seen a few more questions (and have been asked directly as well) with regards to family appearance. I will probably not be answering any further questions on this device, you will be completely free to play with it yourselves soon enough!
____
The Mirror of Transformation is an insidious and twisted device. When you alter your appearance with the device it doesn't just change who you are, but it changes who you were and will be in the future. It selects from one of the infinite possible universes where you were brought up with a different lineage and twists that thread of history into the currently experienced reality. The ripples of this action affect your family and other people's memory of your appearance as well.
___
To people worried you cannot modify the default Hawke appearance I will mention there is a fairly good selection of preset appearances you can base your modifications off of, you won't be left wanting.

This isn't a question on the Mirror so I am hoping you may be able to answer it. It is a fairly minor one too. I am just wondering how much of the Black Emporium is actually in-game. In that does it actually feel like some mysterious, underground market, etc. Basically how much of the description text translates into the game.

There is lore specifically on the black emporium, it is a place you can visit and interact with.  Beyond that I won't say, I think it would be better for you to experience it.

Personally I think it's pretty cool.  I believe you'll enjoy visiting the place.

My guess is that the Black Emporium is
downloadable DLC. The code lets you get it for free and once installed,
you don't worry about it again (like The Stone Prisoner and Warden's
Keep).

Correct.

Hmmm...... mirror of transformation?? It sounds like this mirror will basically allow us to create a whole new character without having to start a new or separate campaign... interesting.

Not quite - it will open up the part of character creation where you customize Hawke's appearance.  You can play with it as much as you want at that point.

Make sure you check what items are attached to your account here: social.bioware.com/user_entitlements.php

And follow the steps in the 'More Info' link.

Also, make sure the email address and gamertag/psn name at the top of that page above is also what you see in your DA2 main menu after the game logs into the servers.  That means your game is correctly linked to your account and those items.
