^You did a lot of speaking for a lot of people and assuming a lot of things about other consumers... Sure you can always find someone who agree's with you, specially on the internet, but to assume that that represents a significant amount of people is very presumptuous.

What you should take away from people being angry about the special edition is not that your customers are illogical retards. What you should take away is that you're doing something wrong and have eroded trust enough that your core proponents will be angry at the drop of a hat. That should be something you're a bit uncomfortable with.

Coming from a both a steam user and an avid bioware fan, I don't agree with any of this. Please do not speak on behalf of these "customers" you keep refering to.

I don't think bioware are doing anything wrong. They offered other options. Digital and physical. They informed us before hand that the SE would not be available on steam. And they have offered a standard edition on steam to those who want it. The only thing I can fault is not being informed that it would be on steam before it was realesed/before the sig edition ended. But I assumed it would from the lack of responses saying otherwise. Bioware are not responsible for a players decision to only use one form of purchasing. And nor should they have to anything to rectify this. Players had the choice to buy a physical copy and a digital copy or none at all. They chose none at all.

Wow i just reread that and it comes off a little more aggressive then I meant. Insert random lols at the end of sentences while reading. Hope this will lighten the mood :P

@ThunderfoxF Steams sales charts aren't numbers sold. They calculate things differently and of course DA 2 is number one, it's been on sale for a matter of hours while the other games have been there for weeks and months. If's it's number one in 6 months, I'll stand corrected.

Fair enough, I don't go on steam enough to know that. As to your other point Its been in the top 5 on all five consols ( numero uno on PC) on Amazon for a while. Unfortunately you doesn't track how long things have been top 5, just top 100 or whatever

I don't particularly feel that Bioware did anything wrong in this particular situation, even though I don't like how it turned out, but that's the point. In a perfect Bioware world their fanbase wouldn't even blink an eye at something this small. It shouldn't be an issue, yet we have this ever growing thread of people who are upset and other similar ones randomly strewn in other community forums elsewhere.

I'm not saying that Bioware did anything wrong in this particular situation, but rather that they shouldn't be in the situation where very loyal fans will get upset at them over something so small. To me, that's a first indicator that something has gone wrong somewhere.

Those of you that followed us through the Origins roller coaster of release dates for DLCs and patches (particularly for consoles) should know by now that occasionally things do not go according to plan - and despite best efforts from everyone involved, some players 'lose out' for any number of reasons.

Why'd ya have to mention that, I had just managed to repress it!!!!:crying:

emotional trama aside, I don't think steam users paid much attention to the delays on consoles.:D

You have explained my sentiments (in both of your posts) on this whole ordeal better than I could ever hope to do myself.

Kudos to you.

No, as in I don't think Bioware should do anything appease these unreasonable fans. Like I previously stated, Steam users knew there would be no SE available to them (or they would have had they looked through the forums). They knew it wasn't going to happen. period. They could then follow two routes. Pre order the game. Not pre order the game. They knew of all the consequences that came with these decisions.

Now people are demanding that the signature edition be extended, or else they refuse to buy the game? Gimme a break.

Something has gone wrong somewhere. People have become entitled.

EDIT: My posts aren't really aimed at those that only dislike what's going on. I dislike what went on. It's directed at these people who act as if someone has just thrown eggs at them and then drove off laughing in their limo while they promised to take you to prom. At worst all they did was go "oh hey, wanna hang out at the mall? I'm driving John over. You can come with me and John, or you can meet us there. " It's not Biowares problem that John smells.

Strangest analogy i've ever used=]

It's pretty simple for me at least.  Steam is the ONLY digital PC vendor I can use.  Every other one is region locked.  I'm missing out on content because of EA/Bioware's decision.  I've been very underwhelmed by everything about DA2 but would have pre-ordered the Signature Edition if I had the chance.  This whole mess just cements my decision to not purchase the game.

This, and the I've already preordered but now can't cancel, I feel are the only valid arguements. If there was situations out of their control, Bioware should have made sure the digital services offered to all regions.

I do not count "Steam is my only option all others are teh gayz" as a valid arguement, which is where my posts in this thread are directed

Haha, agreed but you have to admit, at least a little bit!, that Steam provides a much better service than the competition as far as convenience, sales, support and community.

The whole thing just doesn't make sense from a business standpoint (EA buckling to the demands of other digital vendors, ha! or a deal couldn't be reached in time, double ha!). I always thought the best model of distribution for a product was in as many places as possible in order to reach the maximum number of potential customers. Then again, I'd never fit in in a corporate environment anyways. :)

I guess this is kind of expected as EA has never played nice with Steam. Don't know how these two are able to work together when it comes to EA Partners, but not when it comes to digital distribution.

Yep!  At least in Korea.  I'd never order there but I did check the local EA store and they don't even have Dragon Age 2 listed.  Nothing.  Games usually aren't on pre-order this far in advance so maybe some special, local specific deal will happen.  I might be interested but then again, as I've said, I'm kind of soured on the game for a lot of reasons.

Oh yeah, definatly. I love steam, and would have pre ordered the SE on steam if it was available. But I did my homework, knew it wasn't going to be available, and so pre ordered somewhere else lol. I'm not calling foul play just becasue I couldn't pre order on steam, and find it the people that are to be a little too melodramitic about it all

I can obviously only speculate, but I imagine that steam had a stipulation about putting the SE on their list that EA simply were not prepared to accept. Maybe it would cost less for the preorder, or more, or some sort of deal steam sought to offer with the SE.

Oh and to roxxyBoxx.

I don't think anybody "demanded" that they extend the SE, only that it would be fair for Steam users if they did. Even still, consumers ALWAYS have the right to vote with their wallets if they are unsatisfied with a product. How does choosing not to buy a product equal entitlement?

You're completely discounting those of us who don't have time to monitor the forums of any upcoming games we're waiting for. I didn't know that there was a new pre-order sub-deadline.

I am a huge fan of DA:O, but disappointed in EA / Bioware's decision to hold back content as launch day DLC, etc.

Extending these shenanigans "oh no you didn't pre-order soon enough!" is just ridiculous. I shouldn't have to monitor forums and mark calendars to buy a game without losing out.

It annoys me that I am being penalized for not buying from Gamestop.

Not only am I paying $10 more than standard with no apparent value added to the pc version over the console version, I'll be stuck paying $7 or whatever for the dlc because I ignored the giant Gamestop commercial Dragon Age 2 was until today?

I loved the first game, played it more than any other game last year, but these two facts have severely stunted my interest in buying Dragon Age 2. I always thought Bioware was more consumer friendly than this.

Bioware did a really terrible job of communicating that the deal wouldn't be available on Steam. Months of silence then a post in a thread that was locked, and if you missed it then too bad, you'd never know. I agree, that if I really wanted the game, then I probably would have ordered it from somewhere like Impulse, where it was as low as $45, but every preview of this game seems kind of off. The pre-order debacle was more the straw that broke the camels back.

This is just another data point into the whole EA vs Steam thing. As I've said before there's been quite a few games that have turned up on various DD outlets, but have been suspiciously absent from Steam. Now, whether the Dragon Age 2 pre-order is a coincidence or not, two parties fighting over revenue is hardly outlandish. If EA want to not put games on Steam, then fine. I won't buy them.

Fifa Manager is on steam, but Fifa 11 is not. Fifa Managers competition Football Manager is a steamworks game. There is no competition for Fifa 11 on steam. Are people really going to deny that EA doesn't in someway have it out for Steam?

It's kind of common sense though, the pre-order deal ended a certain day (and that was well advertised) and it was not on Steam before that date.  They even had a big "last chance" thing not long ago, and it was still not on Steam at that time.  Common sense should tell you to get it elsewhere if you want the pre-order bonus.

Unless you're not paying ANY attention, but then if that were the case you would have missed out anyway.

Eh, wait a couple of months and the price should drop by 20 bucks. It did for DA:O. And there's nothing wrong with timed "specials", everything from handjobs to cars is sold that way.

Still doesn't make sense to only offer a pre-order, that doesn't contain all the physical, tangible perks most collector's editions have, that ends 2 months before the game even comes out. Why not extend that offer to digital customers? There's no extra manufacturing involved and game sales are moving more towards digital downloads as EA's own overlord recently stated.

I get the buy it new, get a free character deal like in Origins. LOVED that deal but this one just stinks.
