Love how the "deal" couldn't be finalized in time for the Signature Edition to appear on Steam, yet somehow it was managed fine with the first game.

Read my posts. I'm not fighting for myself, I'm fighting for the people who aren't in the know. I know, it's absurd in this day and age. Someone who is CARING about other people? My god, I should have a movie and biography deal by now.

Okay, fine.

But if people heard about the SE, they could easily have found a place to purchase it.  If all they do is look at Steam to see what's being released, well, again, that's like walking into Best Buy to see what games are available, and complaining you didn't know about something because it was out of stock at BestBuy.

I'm sorry, but the information is readily available from a number of sources to learn that the game exists.

you know, there are people who live in places where there aren't game stores to preorder from and where other digital stores that would offer the deal are region locked, Steam being the exception

so, because of that, I'm not allowed to get the SE?

My Case,,, and i got several post in this forum blocked becuase i was complaining about this, and they forced me to buy the game through the EA Store (not even the US, i had to buy through the Spain one)...

I want to know if the the SE comes with the black emporium, becaus if not i will cancel my SE and will buy the game from Steam... i love how steam has never discriminated me because i live in Chile and not in the US, Canada or Mexico.

They have stated that the SE version will be updated with the new pre-order content.

So, the deal didn't go through until the day after the Signature Edition offer expired? Show me a person who believes that and I'll show you a politician's dream.

You get one year to download your game. Download it and back it up on dvds and you are good to go, you can install it all the times you want, on all the pc you want as long as you log into the game with the same account. Is not like after a year your license will expire and if you have the game installed it wont work anymore, or if you had it backed up on dvds and you try to install it won't work. EA Stores says that you have 1 year after you bought the game to download it from their servers, after you did you can do whatever you want with your copy.

Evidently, not your case if you could preorder from the EA store.

How about you just extend the Signature Edition offer for a week to account for the fact that you botched the Steam deal?

I have the game on pre-order with Amazon, but between you guys hiking the price to $60 and for whatever reason backing off from Steam as a platform (which honestly is blatantly obvious to anyone with basic critical thinking skills) I'm tempted to step away from BioWare altogether.

Your partnership with EA is hurting your partnership with your fan base.

Really disappointed with Bioware. This does not inspire confidence.

Not buying this product for now. Will wait on better offer.

In that case everyone could buy through the EA Store... so far i haven't read a single post stating that they werent able to buy from it... mostly everyone said they were reluctant to do it.

Thanks BioWare, now I'll have extra $50(or 60, if I wanted to get ripped off for buying on my favorite DD store)to spend.

Besides, Dragon Age 2 doesn't even look like a good game, even though I would give it a chance had EA not done this, so I guess the loser is obvious here.

I would tell Aussies interested in buying DA 2 off Steam to buy it now, lest Steam jack up the price again. $59.99 is not the Aussie price, especially not after converting, so I don't know about the price staying the same for Aussies (Fallout 3? BF BC2?). Expect it to rise by at least $10.

Also I don't know if Steam would charge the difference, so that would be a risk you take if you buy it.

$60 for the Standard version on Steam!? REALLY, Bioware.EA?! REALLY!? You guys disappoint me. I better be able to register my Signature version on Steam :/ Now I'm deciding if I should even keep the pre-order.

I still don't like what EA BioWare did with the Signature's Edition and Steam. Funny how the day after the Signature Edition is gone it appears on Steam. This is the only reason I personally am not pre-ordering the game. I will wait till all the content is available on Steam for a cheaper price, this way I literally get the "Signature Edition" and extras at a cheaper price.

I will enjoy my time playing Rift in the  meantime.

And we all win.

Exactly.

It's more people don't want to, rather then unable to. Which makes the whole "oh bioware forced me to miss out on the SE beceause it wasn't available on steam" rather lacking.

Not saying that you are making this sort of arguement, just a general comment

If people were reluctant to do something, they have nobody to blame but themselves.

Tony, and others, the deal with Steam was not available in time for the Signature Edition offer. I know this will not prevent you from thinking this was a big conspiracy, but the deal was not finalized in time for the Signature Edition. However, we are pleased to now have a deal in place with Steam for Steam users such as yourself.  You did have the option of pre-ordering through a physical retailer or otehr digital retailers. If you chose not to, that was your decision. As such, comments accusing us of "ripping off" people are not welcome here and will be considered spam with all implied penalties associated with posting spam on these forums.

As for The Black Emporium, Fadeshear and the Lion of Orlais, the Black Emporium is available for all new copies of DAII, so that does include Steam. Fadeshear and Lion of Orlais are also available on Steam as long as you pre-order. They are only available as pre-order items and will not be available once the game launches, but they are available on Steam until teh game ships. :)

Really? Are you serious? Penalites for criticising this kind of ripoff??
I guess this is it for me, I'll buy Mass Effect 3 to see the end of the story and that will be the end of my ''relationship'' with BioWare and EA games, I just can't stand companies who treat the very people who put them where they are like this.

I've never liked Chris Priestly to be honest, but I could live with it.  This censorship is just too much for me, though. I hope you and all involved get fired soon enough. ^_^

So you didn't get to buy it on Steam, big friggin deal, I'd prefer it on Steam as well but if you get locked into 1 distribution channel its stupid. Not being on Steam forced me to shop around and what the hell I got it for cheaper than it would have been on Steam anyway.

Not really, this is EA we're talking about after all. You should expect to be bent over. The slap in the face is Bioware trying to play it off as if it wasn't a deliberate marketing tactic to deny presales to Steam.

They think you're just that stupid, apparently.

Well, with good reason I must say... for instance i from Brazil, and EA online store avaliable here is administred by Swiss EA, and all the suport page is in portugal portuguese, not brasilian portuguese (which is quite diferent). That kinda raises a red flag...
That said, I did register my physical copy of dragon age on EA store and was pleased to discover that I was able to download it free of charge after my dvd drive died, and I also discovered reading wikipedia the EA store removed all references to the 1 year limit on downloads, so who knows?

Well, I pre-ordered from Best Buy for $50 a while back. Glad I did that. But if I didn't, I'd be waiting till next year's Holiday Steam Sale for this game. $60 for a PC game is just too darned high.

I will eventually get the DA2 Ultimate Edition for $25 bucks, don't worry about it.  I would have preordered if the SE DA2 was on Steam.  Also, how about minding your own business and not telling me how and where I should shop.

So, you went someplace other than Steam, and got it for less.

Imagine that.

Steam must be behind the price increase.  The logic is as inescapable as the fact that Bioware intentionally kept the SE off Steam.

I guess you got lucky.  Because the regular edition of DA2 on the PC is $60 on BestBuy and Amazon.

When I pre-ordered it back in Sept/Oct, it was $50 at Best Buy. They've since raised the price to $60 like everybody else but since I pre-ordered it at $50, they can't raise it on me. I hope.

Either way, It's obviously EA behind the price hike, not Steam.

Oh clearly, after all look at how pleased many of their PC customers are here.

I didn't mean "botched" in the sense that they did not do this intentionally, I meant "botched' in the sense that Steam-centric PC fans would be negatively impacted by this move. Which is really the only thing those of us on the consumer end of this relationship should be worried about.
