yeah, I have been holding off ordering the Steam version until it becomes clear it will include the mac option as well.

I was really hoping for some clarification of this before the release as they have plastered mac logos on the cover etc.

Holding out faint hope it will still come

I'm sure we'll get some info:whistle:

I noticed the devs were particularly active yesterday. MAYBE WE COULD GET SOME MAC INFO

Most Steam for Mac users are probably aware of this, but just in case anybody doesn't know...

If the Mac version comes to Steam, and you've already bought the Steam PC version, you should be able to download the Mac version as well, on account of that whole Steamplay thing... even if it takes a while for them to offer the Mac version.

There are several games on Steam that have a Mac version which is not yet offered on Steam, though, so if you want the Mac version, it may be better to wait and see for now.

I see the Win/Mac dvd logo on EA's page. I would be fine pre-ordering the product, but I am not 100% convinced. Just having that logo and a post on this forum confirming there will be a Mac version doesn't guarantee (to me) that the DVD I pre-order would actually include a Mac version.

I don't think there will be a pre-order. Just like Origins. I just hope it doesn't take as long as Awakening or the DLC did.

I'm not so convinced about steam play. I mean da:o is there but even after they released the mac version of da:o it never became available there. To me this is a disappointment as I like how portable steam is (including saves etc).

So I would love for BioWare to say: Yes when/if we release a mac version it will become available on steam (and enable steam play).

I don't want to end up in a situation where I have the buy the game again for mac. I mean I love bioware but there are other games I want to play as well!

Mac user posting in support of DA:II on Mac! Very, very happy to hear that it is happening. Here's to hoping that some more information is forthcoming.

Gametree's Twitter feed just said they have an exciting announcement to make in a little while. Could it be DA2 Mac? Since the port is almost certainly Cider (Transgaming, which runs Gametree, ported DA1 to the Mac using their Cider technology), and evidence has strongly suggested a hybrid Windows/Mac DVD, they would have to announce it very very soon with the March 8th release date only essentially a month away.

Oh and I'd be really surprised if Steam is involved. Transgaming doesn't seem to work with them.

One way or another we should have an answer soon, maybe even today. :-)

I'm still holding out hope that they make mac a 1st platform and support it more directly. With the success of the Apple App Store (and several EA games on it) it seem like a better idea then simply providing another port.

It will be interesting to see what it actually is.

As delighted as I would be, we are lucky to get DA 2 at all for mac. It will probably be a cider port, which I am more than okay with.

Added confirmation, and since I've taken a leap up faith and pre-ordered with EA, I'll let you know any news I have.

I think that was in reference to my thread :o. Check it out, Priestly confirmed it FIRST here, 1st page. Laidlaw was also here.

yeah the da;o port was good quality. Crashed a little more then the PC version but was stable and on a brand new i7 imac it could be bumped way up and still play well. So ports seem to have come a long way.

Didn't take very long either. If I remember correctly, about a month was between regular and Mac release. It actually runs well on my Macbook Pro. Maybe 5 crashes in a 65 hour playthrough.

That’s is exactly my question and concern! If Mac version will be release at the same time of PC version, why we don’t have a pre-purchase available??

it's all too secretive to me… makes my nose twitch

That Gametree announcement teased yesterday still hasn't come but look at this:

http://eastore.ea.co...s=1296832364227

While this is nice to see it would seem to indicate that it won't be a hybrid Windows/Mac DVD.

Awesome, a pre-order! Now, developers, will we get the pre-order bonuses as well?

My 3.2Ghz i3 has had very little problem playing DA:O (only recently got it, so not done a whole playthrough yet). I've got all the settings ramped up to max, but had to bring a couple of them down a notch during the zombie Redcliffe fight because it would crash. Pushed them back up after the fight ended though and it's fine.

Got a whole heap of mods running too, which is pretty awesome.

I'm getting DA2 for xbox though (I got DAO for xbox first) and will hold off on a mac version until I've played it to death and yearn for mods.

*Might* get DA II for PS3 if I like how I feel in the demo. It all depends, but I'm DEFINITELY getting it for Mac

To me crashes wasn't related to graphics settings (though I assume it was) it was more with character position and who you where controlling. At a couple of places it would consitently crash for me and when i changed character (i.e had Oghren open the door, or not switching to Oghren during a fight) helped.

Why would you play it on xbox or ps3? I couldn't stand the way the game controller on the xbox. I came to the conclusion that I don't like gaming on consoles :-(.

with the pre-order up it seems like it should be released the same day (no?)

Still the pre-order doesn't seem to specify if it's a digital download or not (does it?)

I don't know why releasing information on the apple version is so hard? Seems a little incompetent to me. Even saying, the mac version will not be available at launch, at least show some credibility

I'm hoping for MAC store release
