Great the EA store is so logical.

If you click on their dragon age II banner you don't get an option to pre order on mac but it you search the EA store for dragon age the first game that comes up is Dragon Age II for mac but with no explanation if it's a DVD or digital download.

How professional. The whole thing makes it feel like it was developed by 5 teenagers in a garage and not a AAA title published by the biggest publisher in the world.

The non-SE box shows a Windows/Mac compatibility logo on it.

Looks like the Mac and Windows version are coming on the same disk.

I highly doubt it. Must be a mistake. The only game I've seen like that is Sims 2+3 (Though there are probably way more)

Kravinoth beat me to it but it's now definitely official. It's Cider and will be released on the SAME DAY as the PC version - March 8th. The link above is for the Digital Deluxe Download version.

So we don't have long to wait!

Cool. Seems like they will release it the same day. I don't mind Gametreemac (I bought Dragon Age there) but I would still prefer steam and their cloud saves but beggars can't be choosers!

Will wait a day or so to see if other options comes to

By the way how do you know it's a cider port?

That is FANTASTIC NEWS!!!! Pre-ordering now!

On a side note, for the Sebastian DLC, will we have to wait long for that devs?

I have a feeling the DLC will "work" Seems like they have solved it so that all DLC are available. Still it is an unknown...

What do you mean by "work"? As in the download can be used for PC/MAC?

Yes. I have a feeling that DLCs have been worked out so that they work for both PC and MAC but It's only a feeling I have no proof of this. But to release a mac version the same day as the others and NOT have DLCs ready would be strange and confusing. If it's not a 1st platfrom then release it later and make clear what's available and not.

At this time since Bioware is so silent I assume the treat Mac as a 1st platform and that all things available for PC will be available for the Mac (perhaps excluding the editor if/when it arrives)

I jumped from the chair when I saw the email from GTM. But I’m not purchasing yet. I sent an email to them asking if it is Cider. It probably is.

I have both versions of DA:O, PC and Mac, and PC version is SO MUCH BETTER, so I prefer to buy to PC, if Mac version is Cider.

And, as Rimfrost said, I would prefer Steam… (although there is NOT cloud saves for DA.)

But this is true: beggars can’t be choosers.

And yes. I barely meet the requeriments (graphics card of my MacMini is indeed NVIDIA 9400)

What is strange, because the Steam requeriments are these:

Recommended:

OS: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz Processor or equivalent; AMD Phenom II X3 Triple core 2.8GHz or Equivalent

Memory: 2Gb (4 GB Vista and Windows 7)

Video: ATI 3850 512MB or Greater; NVIDIA 8800GTS 512MB or Greater; DirectX 11: ATI 5850 or Greater; NVIDIA 460 or Greater

Ok, I just saw it. “Intel Core 2 QUAD…”

My Mini never will run it well. Only at the minimum.

I have a boot camp win7 but I want to buy the mac version to send BioWare and EA a signal. I have no plans to switch back to windows and I strongly prefer not having to reboot to win7.

To me on a new Mac the Mac is so powerful that I don't mind the slowness. I have everything bumped to max and it's still runs fine. Had I a slower mac then I probably would consider the windows version.

For me the cider was surprisingly stable and fast but I hope they have invested in making it a true 1st party platform, seem to make sense. Games sell well on mac now

I do think that it is a Win/Mac release because I just checking out Best Buy Canada and they had it Win/Mac. Here is the link: http://www.bestbuy.c...c/10162402.aspx

I really hope it is since I pre-order the PC version because I thought I would have a new PC by then. I've been using my Macbook Pro since my PC died.

Okay devs, can we get anything on this? BSB's link shows a pic that said Win/Mac, and that kind of picture is what started this thread. Please, is that just a mistake or real?

I agree. If we, Mac owners, continue buying games for windows, games for Mac will never be taken seriously.
We must support games for Mac! (even if they are Cider…)

Hear hear! We get less respect...than people who can't think of a good analogy for people who get no respect.

Just found out it's available for Mac, thought to myself Woot!!!

And then I noticed the price. Seriously, $71 (£44) for a game I can get from the EA store (Digital Download) for £34?

This price difference really doesn't help combat piracy, or encourage the purchase of Mac games, especially when we'll probably encounter loads of errors (in Origins for example, I constantly get 'Unhandled Page Errors' every time I finish saving).

Sure, I'd pay $71 for a true port, but not for a game you can get for £29 packaged in a runtime.

Oh... I didn't notice the price difference. Still buying the Mac version (and it seems we can by the Max version directly through EA though it's unclear if it's a download or DVD).

Awesome. I'm getting a Mac laptop for graphics and 3D design in college this fall and would love to be able to have a copy of DA2 on it for when I'm out and about and have free time. I'm wondering if it and the DLC I'll have tied to my account would work with this account (I bought the Signature Edition for PC for my Windows PCs). I've never used a Mac in years (last time I used it was in my web design class in Community College) and never used it for gaming before. What is Cider and all of this porting I hear about? And what was the Origins for Macs like? All I've heard was that the DLC didn't really work well and it crashed a lot.

Cider is basically a commercial version of Wine, which basically emulates windows libraries without the overhead of the whole OS.

Basically, the Windows version is packaged into a shell that takes Windows-based calls and relays Mac ones to OS X.

Origins on the Mac is pretty good, I played with Medium settings (2x Anti-Aliasing) and it ran perfectly smoothly (using MacBook Pro 15"), although expect to encounter a few unhandled exceptions later in the game.
